Material overview

Inconel 718 is a precipitation-hardenable nickel-chromium superalloy strengthened by niobium and molybdenum, retaining high strength, creep resistance and oxidation resistance up to ~700 °C. Printed fully dense by LPBF, it is solution-treated and double-aged (AMS 5663) to develop full properties; HIP is available for fatigue-critical flight hardware. The default alloy for turbine, exhaust, rocket and downhole components that must perform hot.

Highlights
  • Service: high strength to ~700 °C
  • Aged UTS: ~1,350-1,400 MPa
