What your metrology engineer actually checks

Entry-level accuracy without the price jump

≤0.1 mm single-shot accuracy and 0.17–0.2 mm point distance put real dimensional data in reach for design and education budgets — every unit calibration-verified before it ships, not a marketing spec.

An applications engineer on the line

Pre-sale sample scan of your actual parts, post-sale calibration and workflow support — from engineers who run these scanners, not a remote ticket queue. Sub-4h reply, NDA standard. Demo units available before you commit.

About this product

The Shining 3D EinScan-SE V2 is an entry-level structured-light desktop 3D scanner that pairs a fixed scan head with an auto turntable, capturing objects from 30 mm to 700 mm at up to 0.1 mm accuracy — an affordable, bench-top path from physical part to 3D model for design, education, and small-batch inspection.

Shining 3D EinScan-SE V2 desktop 3D scanner with auto turntable
The SE V2 pairs a fixed scan head with an auto turntable for hands-free capture of small parts.

Why design and education teams choose the EinScan-SE V2

A calibrated desktop scanner that keeps accuracy honest at an entry price.

Turntable + fixed dual capture

Auto turntable rotates small parts into a full model hands-free; switch to Fixed mode and move the object by hand to cover objects up to 700 mm without repositioning the scanner.

Entry-level accuracy for real parts

≤0.1 mm single-shot accuracy and 0.17–0.2 mm point distance give usable dimensional data for design and QC checks — every unit calibration-verified before shipment. See full specifications below.

Full-color texture capture

Capture color and geometry together in one pass — useful for design reviews, art documentation, and parts where surface markings matter as much as shape.

Plug-and-scan desktop setup

USB-connected to a Windows PC running EXScan S, with Feature, Manual, and Turntable alignment modes and a bundled Solid Edge SHINING 3D Edition license for CAD export.

How Additive Plus delivers your SE V2

Calibrated, trained, and supported by engineers who scan every day.

Step 01
Calibrate & verify

Every unit is checked against its calibration board and accuracy confirmed before it ships — you receive a scanner that meets its stated spec on day one.

Step 02
Install & train

Remote onboarding on scan strategy, turntable vs. fixed alignment modes, and export into your CAD/QC package — productive on the first real part.

Step 03
Sample scan & support

Send us a part and we scan it on the SE V2 first, so you see real data on your geometry before you commit. Post-sale support with a sub-4h reply.

Scanning Performance

The EinScan-SE V2 uses a white-LED structured-light source with a 1.3 MP camera, capturing a single shot in under 1 second at ≤0.1 mm accuracy and 0.17–0.2 mm point distance. Single-shot field of view is 200 × 150 mm. Data alignment supports Feature, Manual, and Turntable modes, and a full turntable rotation completes in under 45 seconds. See the full specification table below.

Working Range & Portability

As a desktop unit, the SE V2 sits on a bench and stays tethered via USB 2.0/3.0 — there is no battery and no wireless mode. Turntable mode automatically rotates parts up to 200 × 200 × 200 mm; Fixed mode, moving the object by hand in front of the stationary scan head, extends coverage up to 700 × 700 × 700 mm. Minimum scan volume is 30 × 30 × 30 mm. At 2.5 kg and 570 × 210 × 210 mm, it’s built to stay in one place — a lab bench, workshop, or classroom station.

Software & Workflow

EXScan S handles capture, alignment, and mesh cleanup, exporting to OBJ, STL, ASC, PLY, and 3MF for downstream CAD and 3D printing workflows. A bundled Solid Edge SHINING 3D Edition license adds parametric reverse-engineering without extra file conversion. Transparent, highly reflective, or very dark surfaces need a light scanning spray first; most painted, machined, and matte plastic parts scan without prep.

Common questions

Don't see yours? Email [email protected] — NDA standard, typical reply within 4 hours.

How accurate is the EinScan-SE V2 across a full 1-meter object?
Single-shot accuracy is ≤0.1 mm with 0.17–0.2 mm point distance, but the SE V2's usable scan volumes are 30–700 mm (Fixed mode, no turntable) or 30–200 mm (Turntable mode) — it's not built for parts approaching 1 m. Anything larger than 700 mm needs multiple repositioned and aligned scans, and stitched accuracy on a large object runs below the single-shot number. Talk to us before buying if your parts are consistently near or above 700 mm; we may recommend a different scanner from our roster.
Can the SE V2 scan outdoors or under bright ambient light?
Not reliably. As a white-LED structured-light scanner, the SE V2 needs a controlled or shaded environment — direct sunlight or strong ambient light washes out the projected pattern. Shining 3D's own guidance is to set up a shelter or cover if you must scan near a window or outdoors. It's built as a bench/desktop unit for a workshop, lab, or classroom, not a field scanner.
What file formats does the EinScan-SE V2 export for CAD and QC software?
EXScan S exports OBJ, STL, ASC, PLY, and 3MF directly, covering the common CAD import and mesh-based QC packages. The bundled Solid Edge SHINING 3D Edition license adds direct reverse-engineering into parametric CAD without extra file conversion steps.
Does the SE V2 need spray for dark, transparent, or reflective parts?
Yes, on some materials. Like most structured-light scanners, the SE V2's white-LED pattern can't reliably read transparent, highly reflective, or very dark/matte-black surfaces — Shining 3D recommends a light scanning spray on those before capture. Most painted, machined, and matte plastic parts scan without any prep.
What scan modes and resolution does the EinScan-SE V2 support?
Two capture modes: Fixed Scan (scanner stationary, part moved by hand, max 700 × 700 × 700 mm) and Fixed Scan with Turntable (part rotates automatically, max 200 × 200 × 200 mm, better for small symmetric parts). Point distance runs 0.17–0.2 mm with a single-shot capture time under 1 second and a full turntable rotation under 45 seconds. Alignment supports Feature, Manual, and Turntable modes.
How often does the EinScan-SE V2 need recalibration?
Every unit ships pre-calibrated and verified against its calibration board. For day-to-day use, recalibrate if you relocate the scanner, notice misalignment between scans, or roughly every few months of regular use — the process takes a few minutes with the included calibration board and EXScan S's built-in calibration wizard.
Is the EinScan-SE V2 battery-powered, or does it need to stay connected to a PC?
The SE V2 is a tethered desktop unit — no battery, no wireless mode. It connects via USB 2.0/3.0 to a Windows PC running EXScan S, and the turntable draws power from the same setup. Budget bench space near your workstation; this is not a handheld or portable field scanner.
