What your process engineer actually checks

Locked, traceable lot chemistry

Every lot ships with a COA documenting PSD, sphericity, flow rate, apparent density, and full chemistry — and a lot number you can trace. Aerospace and medical teams reorder 4+ times without re-qualifying.

Qualified parameters, not just powder

Validated parameter sets for EOS M 290, Renishaw 500Q, SLM 280, and our own AO Metal LPBF ship with the order. Load the profile and hit density on the first build — no parameter-development burn.

A materials engineer on the line

Questions on ferrite content, flowability, recyclate ratios, or HIP response? A materials engineer answers directly — not a contact-form bot. Most replies in under 4 hours, NDA standard.

About this product

Lab-sized, production-ready metal 3D printing. The A50 is a laser powder-bed fusion (LPBF) printer — it melts metal powder directly with a laser to make fully dense, functional parts in one step. Fully open, made in the USA, and built to take you from idea to qualified part in your own lab.

Why teams choose the A50

Fully dense parts, one step

A laser melts metal powder directly — fully dense, isotropic parts at ~±0.1% in a single step. No sinter furnace, no ~20% shrinkage, and none of the loose tolerances filament-and-sinter “metal printers” leave behind.

Fully open — your machine, your alloys

Every parameter exposed, no locked cartridges or vendor recipes. Run 16+ metals, develop your own alloys, change material in under 3 hours.

Blue + IR laser, made in the USA

An optional 445 nm blue laser prints reflective metals like copper, gold and silver; the 900 °C platform handles refractory metals. Built and supported locally.

Performance × price

Production performance — at a price labs can budget.

Genuine, fully-open LPBF — up to 12 m/s scan speed and fully dense ±0.1% parts — without the six-figure cost of a production cell. It’s why research labs choose the A50 to develop new materials and applications in-house.

Infrared can’t couple into reflective metals — the optional 445 nm, 250 W blue laser prints copper, gold and silver cleanly, with finer features and smoother surfaces.

Develop your own alloys — a powder-to-part lab

Research & materials developmentResearch labs build new materials here.

The A50 pairs with the ATO Lab+ atomizer and a CAMSIZER X2 analyzer into a complete in-house bench: atomize a custom alloy, verify its particle size and morphology, then print it — turning alloy development from months into days, without the powder ever leaving the building.

ATO Lab+ ultrasonic atomizer
01

ATO Lab+ · atomize

Produce spherical powders (PSD 20–120 µm, sphericity >0.95) from almost any alloy — near-zero waste.

Bespoke engineering

Built to your specBeyond the catalogue — we build around you.

An open platform means the machine can fit your work — not the other way around. Already have hardware, or a process you want to keep? Bring it to us.

Build around your components

Already own a laser, optics or other subsystems? We integrate your hardware into a complete, open LPBF machine — engineered, assembled and supported by us.

Clone your process onto an AO Metal machine

Running validated parameters on a larger or legacy system? We port your laser power, scan strategy and settings onto an AO Metal printer, so an AO Metal unit reproduces your results.

Custom alloys, atomized in-house

Need a specific powder? Our ATO Lab atomizes refractory, precious and proprietary alloys in 3–4 weeks — verified before it ships.

Frequently asked

How is the A50 different from cheaper “metal printers”?
It is laser powder-bed fusion (LPBF): a laser melts metal powder directly into fully dense, isotropic parts at ~±0.1% in one step. Filament-and-sinter printers add a separate furnace step and shrink ~20% — the A50 does not.
Can I order online?
Yes — you can order the base A50-300 online to reserve your build slot, with a 12–16 week lead time. For higher laser power (500/1000 W), the optional blue laser, or the 900 °C platform, request a quick quote so we configure the right model.
What metals can it print?
16+ metals: stainless and tool steels (H13, M300), titanium (Ti64), Inconel (625/718), cobalt chrome, nickel-titanium, Fe-Co-V, aluminium, copper and CuCrZr, tungsten, tantalum, niobium, magnesium, and precious metals like gold and silver. The open system also runs your own custom alloys.
Can I develop my own alloys?
Yes. Every parameter is open, and paired with the ATO Lab+ atomizer and CAMSIZER X2 analyzer you can make, verify and print your own powders in-house — turning alloy development from months into days.
How fast is it, and what about material changes?
Scan speed reaches up to 12 m/s, and material changes take under 3 hours — ideal for rapid prototyping and R&D where alloys change often.
What are the facility requirements?
A 1150 × 730 × 2050 mm footprint (350–450 kg by model) on 110 V single-phase (300 W) or 220 V three-phase (500/1000 W), with argon under 2 L/min — lab-ready, no special facility build-out, fits through standard doors and elevators.
Is it really made in the USA?
Yes — the A50 is designed and assembled in the USA by a women-owned company, with local manufacturing, parts and support.
What’s the lead time, and what’s included?
12–16 weeks, including the AO Build Studio slicer & control software, spare-parts kit, warranty, on-site installation and training, and parameter-development support.

Same lot 4 times in a row. We stopped re-running parameter sweeps after the second order — density was identical to the first build.

Asked about ferrite content on a Friday. A materials engineer answered Monday morning with actual data, not a sales pitch. That's why we keep ordering.

COA matches the bottle. PSD and flow are exactly what was on the sheet — we run it on a Renishaw 500Q and it hits density on the first try.
