A30 Metal 3D Printer — AO Metal
$59,000
What your process engineering lead actually checks
Supported by the team that runs it
We run AO Metal and partner systems daily for our own print services, so install, training, and first builds are handled by engineers who actually operate the machine. When you call support, you reach the team that qualified it.
An applications engineer on the line
Questions on build volume, laser config, throughput, or material compatibility? A named applications engineer scopes it directly — not a sales rep. Most replies in under 4 hours, NDA standard.
Entry-level desktop metal 3D printing. The A30 is a laser powder-bed fusion (LPBF) printer — it melts metal powder directly with a laser to make fully dense, functional parts in one step. Our most affordable, desktop-sized model: fully open, made in the USA, and a true gateway to metal AM for research and education.
Why teams choose the A30
Fully dense parts, one step
A laser melts metal powder directly — fully dense, isotropic parts at ~±0.1% in a single step. No sinter furnace, no ~20% shrinkage, and none of the loose tolerances filament-and-sinter “metal printers” leave behind.
Fully open — your machine, your alloys
Every parameter exposed, no locked cartridges or vendor recipes. Develop your own alloys and switch powders fast — test a new material with just a few grams.
Desktop, affordable, US-built
Plug-and-play setup with low facility requirements and minimal powder use. Its desktop footprint fits any lab or classroom — and you can run a cluster of A30s for parallel experiments.
Production performance — at a price labs can budget.
Genuine, fully-open LPBF — up to 12 m/s scan speed and fully dense ±0.1% parts — without the six-figure cost of a production cell. It’s why research labs choose the A30 to develop new materials and applications in-house.
From ideation to TRL-3 — bring metal AM into your lab.
The A30 is our most compact, affordable metal 3D printer — a true desktop LPBF for advanced research and education. Plug-and-play setup with low facility requirements; it fits through any door and installs in a lab or classroom rather than a dedicated machine hall. The base 200 W model can be ordered online. Financing & leasing available · 12–16 week lead time.
Models & configurations
| Model | Laser | Power | Weight | Price |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| A30-200 | 200 W | 110 V · 1-ph | 60 kg | Base · $59,000 |
| A30-300 | 300 W | 110 V · 1-ph | 65 kg | $64,000 |
Both models: Ø30 × 60 mm build, 1064 nm fiber laser, optional 55 µm fine-detail laser spot (vs 75 µm), heated platform up to 250 °C, AO Build Studio. The A30 has no blue laser or 900 °C platform — for those, step up to the A50 or A100.
Technical specifications
Open material system
Develop your own alloys — a powder-to-part lab
The A30 pairs with the ATO Lab+ atomizer and a CAMSIZER X2 analyzer into a complete in-house bench: atomize a custom alloy, verify its particle size and morphology, then print it — turning alloy development from months into days, without the powder ever leaving the building.

ATO Lab+ · atomize
Produce spherical powders (PSD 20–120 µm, sphericity >0.95) from almost any alloy — near-zero waste.

CAMSIZER X2 · verify
Measure particle size and shape (0.8 µm–8 mm, ISO 13322-2) so every batch is qualified before it prints.

A30 · print
Open-parameter LPBF — print the powder you just made into functional metal parts.
Bespoke engineering
An open platform means the machine can fit your work — not the other way around. Already have hardware, or a process you want to keep? Bring it to us.
Build around your components
Already own a laser, optics or other subsystems? We integrate your hardware into a complete, open LPBF machine — engineered, assembled and supported by us.
Clone your process onto an AO Metal machine
Running validated parameters on a larger or legacy system? We port your laser power, scan strategy and settings onto an AO Metal printer, so an AO Metal unit reproduces your results.
Custom alloys, atomized in-house
Need a specific powder? Our ATO Lab atomizes refractory, precious and proprietary alloys in 3–4 weeks — verified before it ships.
What you get
A complete system — not a kit.
Ships with every machine
