What your process engineer actually checks

What your process engineer actually checks

Open platform, validated on real parts

The 403P gives you open control of laser, scan and thermal parameters — not a locked recipe. That is what lets you develop and qualify your own process on the materials you actually run. Additive Plus backs it with validated profiles, so the openness pays off instead of becoming your problem.

An applications engineer on the line

Pre-sale help choosing materials and settings, post-sale troubleshooting, and a demo or sample build before you commit. We run SLS ourselves — sub-4h reply, NDA standard.

About this product

The Farsoon 403P Series is an open-platform industrial SLS system for polymer production — a 15.7 × 15.7 × 17.7 in / 400 × 400 × 450 mm build (up to 540 mm tall) driven by a CO₂ laser and eight-zone thermal control. It runs a broad range of nylons, filled compounds and TPU with fully open parameters, so R&D and production teams keep control of the process. Sold, installed and supported in the US by Additive Plus.

Why production teams choose the 403P Series

An open, production-grade SLS platform — process control plus the throughput to run parts, not just prototypes.

Open-parameter platform

Full control of laser, scan and thermal parameters via BuildStar / MakeStar® — develop and qualify your own process and run any compatible powder, not a locked recipe.

Production build volume

A 400 × 400 × 450 mm build (up to 540 mm tall) with build rates up to 4.0 L/h and scan speeds to 15.2 m/s — sized for real production batches.

Broad material range

PA12 nylons, mineral- and carbon-filled grades, glass-bead nylon, flexible TPU and PP — plus higher-temperature options on the HT variant.

Even, controlled thermal field

An eight-zone heater with continuous real-time surface-temperature monitoring holds an even bed — the key to consistent density and dimensional accuracy across the plate.

Common questions

Don't see yours? Email [email protected] — NDA standard, typical reply within 4 hours.

What is the actual build rate and speed of the 403P?
The Farsoon 403P Series builds at up to 2.7 L/h with the 55 W laser and up to 4.0 L/h with the 100 W laser, with scan speeds up to 10 and 15.2 m/s respectively. Real throughput on your parts depends on geometry, layer thickness and nesting, so Additive Plus can estimate build time for a representative job during quoting.
Is the 403P an open or closed material system?
The 403P Series is a fully open platform. You control laser, scan and thermal parameters through BuildStar and MakeStar®, and you are not locked to a single vendor's powder. That makes it well suited to teams developing their own materials or running qualified third-party powders. Additive Plus helps you develop and validate parameters for each material you run.
What materials can the 403P run?
The 403P runs PA12 nylons (FS3300PA-F, FS4100PA), mineral- and carbon-filled nylons (FS3250MF, FS3150CF), glass-bead nylon (FS3401GB-F) and flexible TPU (FS1088A, FS1092A). The higher-temperature HT variant adds materials such as Ultrasint PP and PA6. Because the platform is open, other qualified SLS powders can be run too — ask our engineer about a specific material.
What is the difference between the CO₂ 403P and the fiber-laser Flight version?
The 403P Series uses a CO₂ laser, a proven and cost-effective choice for polymer SLS. The Flight 403P-2 uses dual 300 W fiber lasers with dynamic optics for finer spots and higher scan speeds, raising throughput and detail. If your priority is production speed and fine features, the Flight is worth comparing; if it is an open, capable platform at lower cost, the CO₂ 403P is the fit. Additive Plus can help you choose.
Can the 403P run unattended production?
Yes. The 403P is built for production: an eight-zone heater with real-time surface-temperature control holds an even bed through long builds, and the production UI mode is designed for repeatable operator-independent runs. As with any SLS system, unattended running assumes correct facility setup and material handling, which Additive Plus covers during installation and training.
What software does the 403P use?
The 403P runs Farsoon's BuildStar (machine control) and MakeStar® (build preparation) on 64-bit Windows 10, with open access to key machine parameters, real-time build-parameter modification, 3D visualisation and diagnostics. It switches between an expert mode for process development and a production mode for repeatable runs. Additive Plus trains your operators on both during commissioning.
What warranty and service come with the 403P?
As the US partner, Additive Plus provides installation, operator training, application and DfAM support, and local warranty and service for the 403P — handled in your timezone rather than shipped overseas. Service-plan terms are scoped to your usage. A named engineer replies within 24 hours for support requests.
What power and space does the 403P need?
The 403P measures 2470 × 1500 × 2145 mm and weighs about 3,060 kg. It runs on 380–400 V three-phase power; for US sites it ships with the required transformer. It also needs an ambient environment of 22–28 °C. Additive Plus reviews your facility during installation planning so power, space and environment are ready before delivery.
