Measured numbers over marketing copy

Vendor marketing says xGPP-Translucent takes up no water; the data sheet lists 0.4% water absorption to ASTM D570. We quote the measured figure. Same for the 30–60 MPa tensile strength and 59–61 °C HDT at 0.45 MPa — ranges, because that is what the sheet reports.

About this product

Nexa3D xGPP-Translucent is a general purpose LSPc photopolymer for performance prototypes and functional end-use parts on the NXE 400 and NXE 400 Pro. The translucent finish lets you see flow paths, fill fronts and trapped air inside ducts and manifolds without cutting the part open.

Why engineers choose xGPP-Translucent

Rigid, accurate, fast — and you can see what is happening inside the part.

59–61 °C HDT at 0.45 MPa

Functional parts hold form through warm assembly checks and flow-rig testing, not just bench display under lab lighting.

Translucent by design

See flow paths, fill fronts and trapped air inside ducts, manifolds and closed channels without sectioning the part.

84–88 D Shore hardness

Hard, rigid surfaces at 30–60 MPa ultimate tensile strength, stiff enough for snap-fit clips and repeated assembly cycles.

0.4% water absorption

Measured to ASTM D570. Vendor marketing describes no water uptake; we quote the figure printed on the data sheet.

How we supply xGPP-Translucent

Vendor-validated chemistry, lot traceability and a cure profile that matches your machine.

Step 01
Formulated & tested

xGPP-Translucent is a BASF-formulated general purpose photopolymer, validated on the Nexa3D NXE 400 and NXE 400 Pro before it enters our catalogue.

Step 02
Stocked & lot-matched

Supplied to order in 5 kg (12 lb) jerricans with lot traceability, so a repeat run of flow models prints from the same chemistry.

Step 03
Print, wash & cure

Print at 405 nm on the NXE 400 or 400 Pro, wash and finish with the standard Nexa3D solvent workflow, dry, then UV post-cure to full properties.

Compatible printers & post-processing

xGPP-Translucent is qualified for the Nexa3D NXE 400 and NXE 400 Pro, cured at 405 nm under the LSPc process. Those are the only platforms we confirm — Nexa3D publishes no validated profile for xGPP-Translucent on the XiP or XiP Pro desktop machines, so we make no compatibility claim there. Mix the jerrican thoroughly before each print job and pour slowly into the vat so entrained air can clear, since bubbles are far more visible in a translucent part than an opaque one. Printed parts are washed and finished using the standard Nexa3D solvent workflow, dried, and then UV post-cured to reach the published 30–60 MPa tensile range and 59–61 °C HDT at 0.45 MPa. Filter reclaimed resin back into the container between jobs.

Tell us your printer, part geometry and finishing route — a materials engineer will confirm whether xGPP-Translucent is the right general purpose resin and send the cure profile for your machine. Sub-4h reply, NDA standard.

Common questions

Don't see yours? Email [email protected] — NDA standard, typical reply within 4 hours.

Which 3D printers is Nexa3D xGPP-Translucent compatible with?
xGPP-Translucent is qualified for the Nexa3D NXE 400 and NXE 400 Pro. Those are the only platforms we confirm — Nexa3D publishes no validated profile for xGPP-Translucent on the XiP or XiP Pro desktop machines, so we make no compatibility claim there. It cures at 405 nm under the LSPc process, which area-cures each layer instead of tracing it with a laser, so a full build plate finishes in the time a laser system needs for one part. Send us your printer model and firmware version and our engineers will confirm the exposure profile before you order.
What colour and pack size does xGPP-Translucent come in?
xGPP-Translucent is supplied translucent, in 5 kg (12 lb) jerricans. Translucency is the point of this grade — it lets you inspect flow paths, fill fronts and trapped air inside ducts, manifolds and closed channels without sectioning the part. If you need a finish that shows draft lines and surface defects instead, the same general purpose photopolymer is offered as xGPP-Gray. Tell us your monthly consumption and we will quote a standing order of xGPP-Translucent against your production schedule.
How are xGPP-Translucent parts washed and post-cured?
Parts printed in xGPP-Translucent are washed and finished using the standard Nexa3D solvent workflow, dried, and then UV post-cured. The published 30–60 MPa ultimate tensile strength and 59–61 °C HDT at 0.45 MPa are reached only after a full post-cure, so under-cured parts will be softer and less heat-resistant than the data sheet suggests. Pour slowly into the vat and let bubbles clear before printing, since entrained air is far more visible in a translucent part than an opaque one. Ask our engineers for the cure time we run for your part thickness.
What is xGPP-Translucent best used for?
xGPP-Translucent is built for performance prototypes and functional end-use parts: air ducts, manifolds, fluid-flow models, snap-fit assemblies and translucent demonstration parts. Low shrinkage and high accuracy at LSPc print speed make it practical for short-run production where tooling is not justified, and 84–88 D Shore hardness with 30–60 MPa tensile strength keeps clip and assembly features usable through repeated cycles. Where it earns its place is visibility — you can watch flow behaviour inside a closed channel. Describe your part and duty cycle and we will confirm the fit.
How should xGPP-Translucent be stored and handled?
Store xGPP-Translucent sealed in its 5 kg jerrican, away from daylight and UV sources, at room temperature. Mix the container thoroughly before each print job so the formulation is evenly distributed, and pour slowly into the vat so entrained air has time to clear before the build starts. Filter reclaimed resin back into the container rather than leaving it standing in the vat between jobs. Handle with nitrile gloves and follow the safety data sheet linked in the Downloads section of this page. Ask us if you need the handling sheet ahead of delivery.
Does xGPP-Translucent carry any certifications, and does it absorb water?
xGPP-Translucent carries no biocompatibility, food-contact or flame-rating certification, and we will not claim any. One correction worth making: vendor marketing describes the resin as having no water uptake, while the data sheet lists 0.4% water absorption to ASTM D570. We quote the measured figure, so plan sealing or coating if your part sits in a wet environment. Treat xGPP-Translucent as an engineering prototyping and short-run production resin. If you need a certified patient-contact material, ask us about the Nexa3D xMED line instead.
Can we test xGPP-Translucent before committing to volume?
Yes. Request the Nexa3D LSPc resin sample kit and print xGPP-Translucent on your own NXE 400 or NXE 400 Pro before you commit to volume. Because it is supplied to order rather than held on the shelf, testing first is worth the time — it lets you confirm translucency, accuracy and snap-fit behaviour on your actual geometry before a production quantity is scheduled. We supply the validated cure profile with the sample. Tell us your monthly volume and target date and we will confirm lead time and volume pricing with the order.
