Stiffness and heat from a single cure

xCE-Black reaches 135 MPa flexural strength and a 3250 MPa flexural modulus from a single-cure LSPc polymer — bending performance normally reached only by dual-cure cyanate esters. The DMA glass transition sits at 128 °C, and 24-hour chemical immersion gives a mass change under 0.23% in tap water and 0.39% in 5% salt water, so parts stay dimensionally stable in service.

About this product

Nexa3D xCE-Black is a high-stiffness, high-temperature engineering photopolymer for LSPc printing, manufactured with Henkel LOCTITE. It is a single-cure polymer that reaches 135 MPa flexural strength — a level usually seen only in dual-cure cyanate esters — with the aesthetics and environmental longevity of injection-molded nylons, polyesters, polyamides and polyimides. Supplied in a 1.5 kg bottle sized for the XiP desktop platform.

Why engineers choose xCE-Black

Stiffness, heat and chemical stability in one single-cure resin — values from the xCE-Black technical data sheet.

135 MPa flexural strength

A 3250 MPa flexural modulus from a single-cure polymer — bending stiffness normally reached only by dual-cure cyanate ester systems.

69 MPa tensile, Shore D 89

Tensile modulus of 2840 MPa, 8% elongation at break and 20 J/m notched Izod keep loaded features rigid under service loads.

128 °C glass transition

The DMA glass transition (E″) sits at 128 °C, so stiff parts hold their shape through warm service.

Chemical and moisture stability

24-hour immersion in the TDS: mass change under 0.23% in tap water and 0.39% in 5% salt water, with ethanol, DMSO, MEK, diesel, HCl and NaOH also covered.

Compatible printers & workflow

  • Runs on Nexa3D LSPc resin systems — XiP and XiP Pro desktop printers, and NXE 400 / 400Pro.
  • Agitate the bottle before printing so the formulation is uniform in the vat.
  • Rinse printed parts in an approved cleaner — IPA or xClean — to remove uncured resin, then blow or wipe off residual solvent.
  • Remove supports before the UV post-cure, then cure per the data sheet. A wash station and UV cure unit are required and sold separately.
  • Stocked in Black and White, in 1.5 kg and 5 kg bottles.
Tell us your part, printer and target properties — a materials engineer will confirm whether xCE-Black or another Nexa3D resin is the right match, and share the validated print profile. Sub-4h reply, NDA standard.

What is Nexa3D xCE-Black resin?
xCE-Black is a high-stiffness, high-temperature engineering photopolymer for Nexa3D LSPc printers, manufactured with Henkel LOCTITE. It is a single-cure resin that reaches 135 MPa flexural strength and a 3250 MPa flexural modulus — bending performance usually seen only in dual-cure cyanate ester systems. Parts come out with the aesthetics and environmental longevity of injection-molded nylons, polyesters, polyamides and polyimides, and xCE has been field-proven on production parts including harsh outdoor exposure. This listing is the 1.5 kg bottle; the same resin is also stocked in a 5 kg bottle and in a White grade.
Which printers run xCE-Black?
xCE-Black runs on Nexa3D LSPc resin systems: the XiP and XiP Pro desktop printers, and the NXE 400 and NXE 400Pro production platforms. The 1.5 kg bottle is the format most XiP users start with. Validated LSPc print profiles ship with every bottle, so you do not have to develop exposure settings yourself. You also need a wash station and a UV cure unit, both sold separately, because xCE requires a solvent rinse and a UV post-cure to reach its published mechanical values. Tell us which machines are in the room and we will confirm the profile set.
What mechanical properties does xCE-Black deliver?
From the xCE-Black technical data sheet: tensile modulus 2840 MPa, ultimate tensile strength 69 ± 2 MPa, elongation at break 8%, flexural modulus 3250 MPa, flexural strength 135 MPa, notched Izod impact 20 J/m and Shore hardness D 89. That combination makes xCE a stiffness-first material rather than a ductile one — it resists bending and deflection under load, but it is not the resin to choose when a part has to flex repeatedly. These are typical post-cured values and are process-dependent, so wash and cure exactly as specified if you intend to design against them.
How heat resistant is xCE-Black, and how do HDT and Tg differ?
xCE-Black has a glass transition temperature of 128 °C, measured by DMA on the E-double-prime curve. That is the documented thermal figure on the Nexa3D data sheet, and it marks the point where the cured polymer network moves from a glassy to a rubbery state. Below it the material behaves as a stiff glassy solid; as you approach it, stiffness falls away and a loaded part will start to creep. Tg is measured without an applied service load, so treat it as the ceiling of the material rather than a rating for a loaded part, and keep continuous service temperature comfortably below it. Send us your temperature and load case and we will review it.
How do I wash and post-cure xCE-Black parts?
Agitate the xCE-Black bottle before pouring so the formulation is uniform in the vat. After printing, rinse parts in an approved cleaner — IPA or xClean — until all uncured resin is off the surface, then blow or wipe off residual solvent and let the part dry fully. Then the step people get wrong: remove supports before the UV post-cure, not after. Once cured, xCE sits at Shore D 89 and 3250 MPa flexural modulus, and support removal on a fully cured part risks chipping the surface and leaving witness marks. Finish with the UV post-cure specified in the data sheet.
How does xCE-Black handle chemical exposure?
The xCE-Black data sheet reports 24-hour immersion testing against water, ethanol, DMSO, MEK, diesel, hydrochloric acid and sodium hydroxide. Mass change after immersion is under 0.23% in tap water and 0.39% in 5% salt water (5% NaCl). In practice that makes xCE a reasonable choice for parts that see incidental solvent, fuel or cleaning-chemical contact, and it is part of why the material has been used on components exposed outdoors. It is not a substitute for a qualified chemical-service material — if your part sits in continuous immersion, send us the fluid, temperature and duration and we will review it.
Can I order a sample or buy xCE-Black in volume?
Yes. This 1.5 kg bottle of xCE-Black is held in US stock and ships in 1–2 business days, which makes it the usual way to run a first evaluation before committing a program to the material; a 5 kg bottle is stocked for production runs. For 10 L and above, or when your purchasing team needs an official purchase order, contact our materials desk and we will quote volume pricing and confirm lead time. If you would rather see xCE parts before buying resin, we can print a benchmark part in it for you.
