Curated Resin Set for Fast-Track Learning on Desktop Injection Molding Machines

Get molding on day one. This curated starter kit includes four proven thermoplastics, each selected to help new APSX-PIM users learn flow, cooling, and process tuning fast. Every resin is packaged for classroom, R&D, and prototyping and works seamlessly with the pre-installed test mold on new APSX-PIM machines, making it the ideal solution for machine shakedown, student labs, and process training.

What’s Included

Material Form Quantity Primary Use
PP (Polypropylene) Natural Pellets 2 lb Baseline Molding: Easy-flow resin for first-shot success, verifying ejection and gate balance.
TPE (Thermoplastic Elastomer) Black Pellets 2 lb Flexible Parts: Demonstrates soft-touch behavior, texture, and flexible part ejection.
PP (Polypropylene) Yellow or Blue Pellets 2 lb Flow Visualization: Colored resin for observing flow fronts, knit lines, and fill patterns.
HDPE (High-Density Polyethylene) Natural Pellets 2 lb Purge & Cleaning: Low-viscosity resin for quick barrel cleaning between material changes.

Key Features & Benefits

  • Fast Onboarding: Start producing test parts within minutes of machine setup.
  • Comparative Learning: Observe and contrast the behavior of rigid vs. flexible materials.
  • Visual Feedback: Use colored PP to see and understand complex flow and filling phenomena.
  • Optimized Workflow: Includes a dedicated purge material (HDPE) for fast, clean changeovers.
  • Classroom Ready: Sealed, labeled bags are ideal for repeated use in lab and training environments.

Primary Learning Applications

  • Injection Molding Process Fundamentals
  • Machine Operation and Parameter Tuning (Temperature, Pressure, Cycle Time)
  • Material Behavior Comparison (Flow, Shrinkage, Ejection)
  • Academic and Vocational Training Labs
  • R&D and Prototyping Workflows

Processing Notes (For APSX-PIM with Test Mold)

  • Start with PP Natural to establish baseline machine settings.
  • Purge with HDPE when switching between PP and TPE to prevent cross-contamination.
  • Use Colored PP to visually study fill patterns and identify knit lines.
  • No pre-drying required for these selected grades when sealed; re-seal bags promptly after use.
