What your lab manager actually checks

Volume without lot-to-lot drift

A 5 kg bottle is a lot of models, so consistency matters more than a headline number. Every bottle ships sealed with its KeyPrint lot, and we share the wash and cure schedule that produces the published 1940 MPa flexural modulus — so model fifty matches model one.

About this product

Nexa3D KeyModel Ultra Ivory is the KeyPrint model resin in a 5 kg bottle for the Nexa3D NXE 400 and 400Pro — the production pack for labs printing aligner thermoforming models, removable dies and restorative models at volume.

Why production labs choose KeyModel Ultra Ivory

Four properties that decide whether a model survives the rest of the workflow.

Dimensionally stable

1700 MPa tensile modulus and 1940 MPa flexural modulus (ASTM D638 / D790) — models hold their geometry between print and thermoforming.

Clean thermoforming release

Formulated so the pressure-formed sheet lifts off cleanly instead of grabbing the model surface and taking detail with it.

Carves without chipping

70 MPa flexural strength with 5% elongation at break — margins can be trimmed and ditched by hand without the edge crumbling.

Ivory finish, 5 kg pack

A neutral ivory that trims and scans cleanly, supplied in the bulk bottle format for NXE-class throughput.

From bottle to finished model

Three steps that decide whether the model matches the scan.

Step 01
Print on LSPc

Fill the NXE 400 or 400Pro from the bottle and load the KeyModel Ultra profile in NexaX — 100 µm for models, 50 µm for dies.

Step 02
Wash

Clean in xCLEAN or IPA and keep soak times short. An over-soaked model loses crisp margins, which is exactly what you printed it for.

Step 03
Cure

UV post-cure at 405 nm to reach the published mechanical values, then trim, ditch and thermoform as your workflow requires.

Common questions

Don't see yours? Email [email protected] — NDA standard, typical reply within 4 hours.

Which printers take the 5 kg KeyModel Ultra Ivory bottle?
The 5 kg bottle is the format for Nexa3D NXE 400 and NXE 400Pro machines, which fill their vat from a bottle. XiP and XiP Pro printers use 1 kg smart cartridges instead and will not accept this pack — for those, order KeyModel Ultra in the cartridge. The chemistry is identical in both formats, so a lab running mixed platforms gets the same model behaviour either way. Send us your machine serial if you want us to confirm before shipping.
What layer height should I print KeyModel Ultra at?
KeyPrint validates KeyModel Ultra at 100 µm for thermoforming models and 50 µm for removable dies and detailed restorative models. On an NXE, 100 µm is what makes a full plate of aligner models an overnight job rather than a two-day one. Use 50 µm where a technician has to read the margin under magnification. Both profiles are available in NexaX; our engineers can help you set a plate layout that suits your daily case mix.
Does KeyModel Ultra release cleanly when thermoforming?
Clean release is one of the properties KeyPrint formulates this resin for — the pressure-formed sheet lifts without grabbing the model surface. It only holds if the model is properly washed and fully post-cured, because residual uncured resin on the surface is what makes a sheet stick and pulls detail off. Wash briefly, dry completely, then cure at 405 nm before the model reaches the thermoforming machine.
Can margins be trimmed and ditched on these models?
Yes. The 70 MPa flexural strength and 5% elongation at break are what let a technician carve and ditch a margin without the edge crumbling, which is the usual failure mode on brittle model resins. Use a sharp bur and light pressure. If your team works a lot of die margins, print those dies at 50 µm so the printed edge is already crisp before any hand finishing starts.
What wash and cure equipment does a 5 kg workflow need?
An NXE-scale model workflow needs a wash station sized for full build plates and a 405 nm cure unit — neither is included with the resin. The Nexa3D xWASH handles NXE build platforms, and xCLEAN or IPA serves as the wash solvent. Keep wash times short so models do not swell and lose margin definition. We supply the wash and cure hardware, solvent and spares alongside the resin, so the whole chain has one point of support.
Is KeyModel Ultra suitable for patient-contact appliances?
No. KeyModel Ultra is a model and die material: models, dies and thermoforming formers. The appliance itself is the thermoformed sheet or a purpose-built appliance resin, not the printed model. For printed patient-contact appliances we stock the KeyPrint materials formulated and tested for those indications, such as KeySplint Soft for splints and nightguards. Always confirm indications against the current KeyPrint instructions for use for your region.
How should a 5 kg bottle be stored, and can I order several?
Keep bottles sealed, upright and out of daylight and UV lamps, at normal indoor room temperature. Agitate before filling the vat so the resin is homogeneous, and never pour used vat resin back into a sealed bottle. Each bottle carries its lot and expiry on the label — work from that date. For multi-bottle orders, official purchase orders or net terms on an approved account, use the Custom volume quote button and we will confirm price, lot availability and freight.
