What your materials team actually checks
Lot-certified & heat-treatable
Every lot ships with a Certificate of Analysis — PSD, chemistry, apparent density and flow rate. 17-4PH reaches peak strength via H900–H1150 aging; we include post-print heat-treatment guidance for your target properties.
A materials engineer on the line
Qualification question? We've run these alloys in production on AO Metal — parameter sets available. Sub-4h reply, NDA standard. Use the Talk to materials engineer button above.
A-Powder 17-4PH is a gas-atomized precipitation-hardening martensitic stainless steel for laser powder bed fusion (LPBF): high strength and hardness with good corrosion resistance, heat-treatable to your target properties. US-produced, lot-certified for production.
Why engineers choose A-Powder 17-4PH
Four things a materials team verifies before qualifying a powder.
Heat-treatable to peak strength
Age-harden to H900–H1150 for UTS up to ~1300 MPa — dial in strength vs. toughness for your part, unlike austenitic stainless.
Lot-certified consistency
Full Certificate of Analysis with every lot — PSD, chemistry, apparent density and flow rate, traceable lot number for AS9100 and NADCAP workflows.
Gas-atomized, spherical
High sphericity and low oxygen for stable spreading and dense parts — repeatable flow, predictable LPBF performance.
US-produced, fast dispatch
Made in the USA and shipped from Los Angeles in 5–10 business days. Need a tighter cut or an official purchase request? Just ask.
How we supply it
Every lot ships as a verified process, not a bag of powder — melted, atomized, tested, certified.
Melted & atomized
US gas atomization for spherical, low-oxygen 17-4PH powder with controlled Cu and Nb.
Tested & certified
Every lot checked for PSD, chemistry, apparent density and flow — full COA with a traceable lot number.
Dispatched from LA
Bottled or hoppered and shipped from Los Angeles in 5–10 business days.

Chemical composition
| Element | Content | Element | Content |
|---|---|---|---|
| Iron (Fe) | Balance | Niobium (Nb+Ta) | 0.15–0.45% |
| Chromium (Cr) | 15.0–17.5% | Manganese (Mn) | ≤ 1.00% |
| Nickel (Ni) | 3.0–5.0% | Silicon (Si) | ≤ 1.00% |

| Phosphorus (P) | ≤ 0.040% | Sulfur (S) | ≤ 0.030% |
Heat treatment & processing
- Precipitation-hardening — solution anneal (Condition A) then age at H900 (peak strength), H1025, H1075 or H1150 (higher toughness).
- H900 gives UTS up to ~1300 MPa; higher aging temperatures trade strength for ductility and toughness.
- Good corrosion resistance; magnetic (martensitic). Stress-relief before removal from the plate is recommended.
Typical applications

Unedited feedback from customers who reorder A-Powder 17-4PH Stainless Steel Alloy Powder for Metal 3D Printing | LPBF Compatible – 10 kg / 22 lbs.
Same lot 4 times in a row. We stopped re-running parameter sweeps after the second order — density was identical to the first build.
Asked about ferrite content on a Friday. A materials engineer answered Monday morning with actual data, not a sales pitch. That's why we keep ordering.
COA matches the bottle. PSD and flow are exactly what was on the sheet — we run it on a Renishaw 500Q and it hits density on the first try.
