Which Nexa3D printers and build platforms does the xWASH accept?

The xWASH is sized around the Nexa3D NXE 400 and directly accommodates its full build volume. It accepts up to two NXE400 or NXD200 build platforms simultaneously, which is what lets a single wash cycle keep pace with a printer running back-to-back builds. If you are washing parts that were not printed on a Nexa3D platform, or a mixed batch of small components, the included loose-parts basket handles those instead. What cleaning solution does the xWASH use - can I run IPA?

The xWASH is optimized for and validated with Nexa xCLEAN, which carries roughly three times the saturation limit of standard solvent, has a higher flash point, and offers recycling options - all of which matter in a production room. It will also run conventional resin-washing solvents including IPA. The practical difference is bath life: a higher saturation limit means the tank holds more dissolved resin before it stops cleaning effectively, so you change the bath less often and generate less waste. Confirm your resin and your local EHS rules before switching cleaners, and we can help size a supply to your plate count.

How does the xWASH agitate parts, and why does that matter?

The xWASH uses a magnetic impeller that runs bi-directionally at variable speed. Direction reversal matters because a single-direction flow tends to wash the faces pointing into the current and leave shadowed areas alone. Reversing the flow puts solvent through undercuts, internal channels, and hollow sections, which is where uncured resin normally survives a wash. Speed is adjustable so delicate or thin-walled parts can be washed gently while robust production parts get more aggressive flow. Combined with the adjustable cycle timer, that gives you a wash recipe you can tune per part geometry and per resin, then repeat.

What does the automatic Z-axis and secondary lid actually do?

The xWASH raises and lowers the Z-stage automatically, so parts are lowered into the bath and lifted out without an operator reaching into solvent. A secondary lid or cover closes over the tank during the cycle. Together these do two things: they reduce operator chemical exposure, which is usually the point that decides whether a washer passes a facility safety review, and they cut solvent evaporation between and during cycles, which saves cleaner and keeps vapour out of the room. The Tritan reservoir is transparent, so you can still watch the process and check cleaner level without opening anything.

Do I still need a post-curing unit after the xWASH?

Yes. The xWASH removes uncured resin from part surfaces; it does not cure them. Resin parts only reach their published mechanical properties after a post-cure step that applies UV light and, for most Nexa3D materials, heat. The matching unit is the Nexa3D xCURE, a 16 L chamber with dual-wavelength 365 + 405 nm LEDs and 30-60 degrees C heating that accepts the same build plates - so parts move from wash to cure without re-fixturing. Running xWASH then xCURE gives you one continuous post-processing line. We can quote the pair together and size them to your throughput.

What power and facility requirements does the xWASH have?

The xWASH runs on a universal 110-240 VAC 50/60 Hz supply, so it works on US or EU power without a configuration change. Recommended operating temperature is +50 to +104 degrees F / +10 to +40 degrees C, which covers a normal shop or lab. The machine measures 15.7 x 16.5 x 33.9 in / 400 x 420 x 860 mm and weighs about 132 lb / 60 kg wet, so it stands on the floor rather than a bench. It has dedicated drain and fill ports, so plan for a route to dispose of spent cleaner according to your local regulations. No compressed air or plumbing connection is required.

How do I know when the cleaner is spent?

The xWASH includes a pot-life or saturation timer alongside the adjustable cleaning-cycle timer. You set the expected useful life of the bath on the colour touchscreen and the machine notifies you when the cleaner has reached its saturation limit, rather than leaving the team to infer it from parts coming out tacky. That is a meaningful quality control point, because a saturated bath redeposits dissolved resin onto parts and quietly degrades finish and dimensional accuracy.
