From cartridge to sterile guide

Step 01

Print on LSPc

Drop the cartridge into the XiP or XiP Pro. The NFC chip loads the validated KeyGuide profile in NexaX — no manual exposure guessing.

Step 02

Wash

Clean in xCLEAN or IPA and keep soak times short. Over-soaking a guide swells the sleeve seat and costs you the fit you just printed.

Step 03

Cure, then sterilise

UV post-cure at 405 nm to full properties, then run your validated autoclave cycle before the guide goes anywhere near a patient.

Which printers does the 1 kg KeyGuide cartridge fit?

This 1 kg smart cartridge is the Nexa3D XiP and XiP Pro format. It drops into the printer and its NFC chip hands NexaX the validated KeyGuide exposure profile together with the lot data, so you are not tuning settings by hand. NXE 400 and 400Pro machines feed from bottles rather than cartridges and need the bottle pack instead. If you are unsure which format your machine takes, send us the serial number and we will confirm before the order ships.

Is KeyGuide biocompatible, and what does that actually cover?

The KeyGuide data sheet reports a pass on ISO 10993-5 cytotoxicity and ISO 10993-10 sensitisation. That is the biological testing behind its use as a short-term surgical guide material. It is not an implant material and it is not cleared for long-term patient contact. Which indications you may print, and under which regulatory route, depend on the current KeyPrint instructions for use in your country — check that document, and ask us if you need help locating the current revision for your lot.

Can KeyGuide guides be autoclaved?

KeyGuide is formulated to withstand steam sterilisation, which is why it is used for guided implant surgery. Validate the specific cycle your practice runs — temperature, hold time and drying — against the sterilisation instructions in the current KeyPrint IFU, and confirm the guide still seats on the model afterwards. Guides must be fully washed and UV post-cured before sterilisation; an under-cured guide will distort in the chamber and lose the fit you printed.

How rigid is KeyGuide compared with a model resin?

KeyGuide is measured at 105 MPa flexural strength and 2400 MPa flexural modulus (ASTM D790), noticeably stiffer than a general dental model resin such as KeyModel Ultra at 70 MPa and 1940 MPa. That stiffness is the point: the sleeve seat has to hold its angle against hand pressure during the osteotomy. If you want a flexible material instead — for splints or bonding trays — look at KeySplint Soft or KeyOrtho IBT.

What wash and cure equipment do I need?

You need a wash station and a 405 nm cure unit; neither is included with the resin. The Nexa3D Wash+Cure covers both for the XiP in one desktop unit, and xCLEAN or IPA works as the wash solvent. Keep wash times short — an over-soaked guide swells and the sleeve seat drifts. We sell the wash and cure hardware, the solvent and the spares alongside the resin, so the whole chain comes from one supplier with one point of support.

How should KeyGuide be stored?

Keep the cartridge sealed, upright and away from daylight and UV lamps — a clear photopolymer will slowly cure in ambient light. Store at normal indoor room temperature rather than in an unheated store or a hot vehicle. Agitate before printing so the resin is homogeneous. Each cartridge carries its lot and expiry on the label; work from that date rather than a rule of thumb, and never pour used vat resin back into a sealed cartridge.
