Structural strength at PP pricing

DualPoly 20GF is a 20% glass-fiber PP copolymer: markedly higher strength, stiffness, and heat resistance than unfilled PP, at a lower cost than ABS or nylon. Every unit ships with drying and molding parameters so structural parts stay dimensionally consistent.

About this product

PP 20% Glass-Filled (DualPoly 20GF) is a 20% glass-fiber reinforced polypropylene copolymer for injection molding — significantly higher strength, stiffness, and heat resistance than unfilled PP, at a lower cost than ABS or nylon for structural parts.

Why engineers choose PP 20GF

Glass-reinforced polypropylene that carries load without the price of an engineering resin.

20% glass reinforcement

Higher strength, stiffness, and heat resistance than standard PP — 46.9 MPa tensile yield for structural parts.

Cost-effective ABS alternative

Engineering-grade stiffness and strength at polypropylene pricing — a straight cost-down from ABS or nylon.

Lightweight

Lower density (1.02 g/cm³) than most engineering thermoplastics, so parts stay light without giving up rigidity.

Chemical resistance

Inherits polypropylene’s solid resistance to solvents, acids, and bases for parts exposed to shop chemicals.

How we supply it

Genuine resin, ready to mold, with the parameters your process engineer needs.

Step 01
Sourced & lot-traced

Common questions

Don't see yours? Email [email protected] — NDA standard, typical reply within 4 hours.

Do I need to dry PP 20GF before molding?
Yes. Dry PP 20GF for 2–4 hours at 82°C (180°F) to below 0.20% moisture before molding. While polypropylene itself absorbs little water, the glass-fiber and additive package benefits from drying for a clean surface and full mechanical performance. Each 2 lb unit ships with the recommended parameters.
What melt and mold temperatures does PP 20GF need?
PP 20GF molds at a melt temperature of 191–232°C (375–450°F) with a mold temperature of 32–71°C (90–160°F) and back pressure of 25–100 psi. Adequate back pressure helps disperse the glass fiber evenly. These are starting points — a materials engineer can help tune them for your part.
What is PP 20% Glass-Filled used for?
PP 20GF suits structural parts: automotive under-hood components, brackets and fan shrouds, lawn and garden equipment, durable consumer housings and tools, and industrial parts that need to be strong, stiff, and light. It is often chosen as a cost-effective replacement for ABS or nylon.
How is glass-filled PP different from standard polypropylene?
The 20% glass fiber in PP 20GF raises strength, stiffness, and heat resistance well above unfilled PP, which is why it replaces more expensive engineering resins in structural parts. The trade-offs are slightly higher brittleness and abrasive wear on tooling, so hardened screws and barrels are recommended for high volume.
How is PP 20GF packaged and what is the minimum order?
PP 20GF ships in sealed 2 lb units, and the minimum order is 5 units (10 lbs total). Larger volumes and official purchase orders are welcome — contact us for volume pricing. Material ships from US stock, typically within 1–2 business days.
Will PP 20GF run on the APSX-PIM desktop molder?
Yes. PP 20GF is formulated for desktop and standard injection molding, including the APSX-PIM. Because the glass fiber is mildly abrasive, hardened machine components extend life on longer runs. Our team can confirm shot size and parameters for your specific mold.
Is PP 20GF really cheaper than ABS?
For structural parts, yes — PP 20GF delivers stiffness and strength comparable to or exceeding many ABS applications at polypropylene pricing, which is why teams use it for cost-down projects. It also adds chemical resistance ABS lacks. A materials engineer can confirm it fits your load case.
