What your process engineer actually checks

What your process engineer actually checks

Strength and wear you can design around

Nylon 101L is a lubricated PA66: 3,100 MPa tensile modulus and 82 MPa yield stress for load-bearing parts, with internal lubrication that lowers friction in gears and bearings. Every unit ships with drying and molding parameters, so parts stay consistent lot after lot.

About this product

Nylon Natural 101L is an easy-flow, internally lubricated Polyamide 66 (Nylon 66) injection-molding resin — high strength and stiffness with good wear and low friction for durable, precision mechanical parts. Based on the widely qualified Zytel® 101L grade.

Why engineers choose Nylon 101L

A general-purpose PA66 that balances strength, toughness, and easy processing.

Easy-flow & lubricated

Internal lubrication fills complex molds fast and releases cleanly, cutting cycle time and wear on moving parts.

High strength & stiffness

3,100 MPa tensile modulus and 82 MPa yield stress carry real mechanical load in gears, brackets, and housings.

Wear & low friction

The lubricated grade suits gears, bearings, cams, and sliding parts where friction and wear decide part life.

Tough & durable

Reliable impact resistance (notched Charpy 5.5 kJ/m² at 23°C) for parts that take repeated load.

How we supply it

Genuine resin, ready to mold, with the parameters your process engineer needs.

Step 01
Sourced & lot-traced

Genuine Zytel 101L PA66, packed in sealed 2 lb units and shipped from US stock. Minimum order 5 units (10 lbs).

Step 02
Dry before you mold

Nylon is hygroscopic. Dry 2–4 h at 80°C (175°F) to below 0.20% moisture for consistent strength and surface.

Step 03
Molding parameters included

Melt 280–300°C (535–570°F), mold 50–90°C (120–190°F). Dial the line in once, reorder the same grade.

Switched our bearing housings to 101L on the APSX-PIM — dimensional repeatability held across the whole run once we dialed the drying in.

Good, consistent nylon at a fair price for short runs. The drying guidance saved us a scrap batch.

Common questions

Don't see yours? Email [email protected] — NDA standard, typical reply within 4 hours.

Do I need to dry Nylon 101L before molding?
Yes. Nylon 101L is hygroscopic PA66, so dry it 2–4 hours at 80°C (175°F) in a dehumidified dryer to below 0.20% moisture before molding. Skipping this step causes splay, bubbles, and reduced strength. Each 2 lb unit of Nylon 101L ships with the recommended drying and molding parameters.
What melt and mold temperatures does Nylon 101L need?
Nylon 101L molds at a melt temperature of 280–300°C (535–570°F) with a mold temperature of 50–90°C (120–190°F). Higher mold temperatures improve surface finish and crystallinity; lower temperatures shorten cycle time. These are starting points — a materials engineer can help fine-tune them for your part and machine.
What is Nylon 101L used for?
Nylon 101L is a general-purpose engineering nylon for gears, bearings, bushings, automotive under-hood parts, electrical connectors and housings, fasteners, and appliance components. Its internal lubrication and 3,100 MPa tensile modulus make it well suited to load-bearing and moving parts.
Is Nylon 101L the same as Zytel 101L?
Nylon 101L is based on the widely qualified Zytel 101L PA66 grade — a lubricated, easy-flow polyamide 66. It offers the same balance of strength, stiffness, toughness, and wear resistance engineers know from that grade, supplied by Additive Plus in convenient 2 lb units.
How is Nylon 101L packaged and what is the minimum order?
Nylon 101L ships in sealed 2 lb units, and the minimum order is 5 units (10 lbs total). Larger volumes and official purchase orders are welcome — contact us for volume pricing. Material ships from US stock, typically within 1–2 business days.
Will Nylon 101L run on the APSX-PIM desktop molder?
Yes. Nylon 101L is formulated for desktop and standard injection molding, including the APSX-PIM. Because nylon needs drying, pair it with a dryer oven for best results. Our team can confirm shot size and parameters for your specific mold.
How should I store Nylon 101L pellets?
Store Nylon 101L in its sealed unit in a cool, dry place. Because PA66 absorbs moisture from the air, keep bags closed until use and re-dry any material that has been exposed. Properly stored and dried pellets deliver consistent strength and surface finish batch to batch.
