What your process engineer actually checks

Closed-loop water economy

The integrated 25 L tank separates solids and recirculates process water, so operating cost stays low and downtime drops — no drain or fresh-water plumbing to install. Standard 230 V mains and transport rollers mean it moves in and runs.

Finish a part first

Send us a representative part and your target finish — we run it on our own AM Solutions equipment in California so you see the surface result before you buy the machine.

A post-processing engineer on the line

Factory-aware engineers who run mass finishing daily at AO Metal — media selection, compound dosing, and cycle parameters, not a remote ticket queue. Sub-4h reply, NDA standard.

About this product

AM Solutions M4 Basic is an entry-level automated vibratory (mass) finishing system for small 3D-printed metal and plastic parts up to 2.76×2.76×0.98 in / 70×70×25 mm. A 20 L rotary-vibrator work container runs the proven mass-finishing process — smoothing, deburring, polishing and matt finishing — with water, compound and in-house developed media. An integrated 25 L process-water tank separates solids and recirculates, so a standard 230 V connection and transport rollers are all it needs to move in and run. Built by AM Solutions, a brand of the Rösler Group.

Why teams choose the M4 Basic

Four things AM teams check before automating small-part finishing.

Plug-and-play install

Standard 230 V mains, transport rollers with locking brakes. Roll it in, connect and run — no dedicated installation, retooling or floor drain.

Closed-loop process water

The integrated 25 L tank separates solids and recirculates water — longer service life, less downtime and low water and electricity cost per cycle. No drain or fresh-water hookup.

Metal and plastic parts

Finishes SLA, SLS, MJF, HSS, SAF and SLM parts up to 70×70×25 mm — one system across polymer and metal additive manufacturing.

Rösler process media

Compounds and media developed and produced in-house, matched to your parts for reproducible, repeatable finish quality batch to batch.

How Additive Plus delivers it

Every M4 Basic ships as a working finishing recipe, not just a machine.

Step 01
Matched to your parts

Media, compound and cycle parameters specced to your AM process and part geometry with a post-processing engineer before the order ships.

Step 02
Installed and supported

Plug-and-play delivery and setup from California — US-based support, consumables and operator training, no international lead times.

Step 03
Dialed-in finish

Cycle verified for your target Ra and surface finish before hand-off, so day-one parts meet spec instead of trial-and-error.

Unedited feedback from engineers finishing metal and polymer AM parts

★★★★★ 4.9 / 5 · 24 reviews
★★★★★

We do small SLM parts and the M4 Basic gave us a repeatable matt finish that cut hand-deburring almost to zero — parts come out consistent batch to batch.

Andre Production Lead · Metal AM parts maker
★★★★★

Plug-and-play was real — we rolled it into the lab, connected power, and were finishing SLS nylon parts the same afternoon. The closed-loop tank means no drain plumbing.

★★★★★

The Additive Plus team specced the media and compound for our MJF parts. Support is the difference — the cycle was dialed in on the first day.

What 3D printing processes can the M4 Basic finish?
The AM Solutions M4 Basic finishes parts from SLA, SLS, MJF, HSS, SAF, and SLM — both plastic and metal additive processes. It is built for single parts and small batches up to 70×70×25 mm. Using water, compound, and in-house developed media in a 20 L rotary vibrator, it performs smoothing, grinding, deburring, polishing, matt finishing, and cleaning in one automated cycle, with reproducible results across polymer and metal parts.
What is the maximum and minimum part size?
The M4 Basic is designed for small workpieces: a maximum size of 70×70×25 mm and a minimum of 5×5×5 mm, loaded into a 20 L work container with a 120 mm working channel width. It is optimized for single parts and small batches rather than large components. For bigger parts or higher throughput, step up to the AM Solutions M4 or S1 systems, which Additive Plus also carries.
Does the M4 Basic need special power, plumbing, or a floor drain?
The M4 Basic connects to a standard 230 V / 50 Hz supply and rides on transport rollers with locking brakes, so it moves into place without a dedicated foundation. Its integrated 25 L process-water tank runs closed-loop — solids are separated and water recirculates — so no floor drain or fresh-water hookup is required. Confirm your exact site power with us before delivery so we match the machine to your facility.
What finishing operations can it perform?
In a single automated cycle the M4 Basic performs smoothing, grinding, deburring, polishing, matt or satin finishing, and cleaning. The result depends on the media, compound, and cycle time — all matched to your part material and target surface. Additive Plus specs the finishing recipe for your parts, so you get a repeatable Ra and appearance batch to batch rather than operator-dependent hand finishing.
How loud is the M4 Basic?
The M4 Basic runs at 69 dB(A) measured with the cover open — comparable to normal conversation and quiet enough for most lab and workshop environments without a separate sound enclosure. Because it is a compact, mobile unit on locking rollers, you can position it near the printers it serves rather than in a dedicated machine room.
Does it come with media and compound, or do I source those?
The mass-finishing media and compound are developed and produced in-house by AM Solutions (Rösler), which is what makes results reproducible. Additive Plus helps you select the right media and compound for your part material and target finish, and supplies consumable resupply from the US. Media, compound, and water are the ongoing consumables; the closed-loop water tank keeps consumption low.
What is included and what is the lead time?
Every M4 Basic from Additive Plus includes installation support, operator training, and a finishing recipe dialed in for your parts, plus US-based consumable resupply. Lead time is typically 4–6 weeks, configured to order — contact us for current availability. Because we support the machines we sell from California, you avoid international service lead times on setup, spares, and consumables.
How does automated finishing compare to hand deburring?
Hand finishing is operator-dependent and slow, and results vary part to part. The M4 Basic runs an unattended vibratory cycle that delivers the same surface across a batch, freeing operators and lowering unit cost. It is most valuable when you finish small parts repeatedly or need a consistent, documentable finish. For a specific comparison, send Additive Plus a representative part and we will run a finishing trial on your geometry.
