What your materials engineer actually checks
We run these to make our own powder
ATO Lab and ATO Sparq atomize the metal powder we sell and print with every day. Install, parameter development, and first batches are handled by the team that runs them in production — not a reseller reading a spec sheet.

What the ATO Revolver Rod Feeding System is
The ATO Revolver Rod Feeding System is a 3D Lab module for the ATO ultrasonic metal atomizers that atomizes up to 10 rods in a single setup. The rods sit in a revolver cylinder; when one is used up, the next is changed in automatically, in a protective gas atmosphere, so the run continues without manual reloading.
The rods are 120 mm long — the same size as the rods cast in the ATO Cast vacuum casting furnace, so dimensions and specifications line up without additional adjustment. Feed speed and rod rotation are both controlled precisely, which 3D Lab presents as the basis for higher-output metal powder production on ATO atomizers.

What it changes in your powder workflow
The Revolver is for teams that want rod atomization to run as production:
| Run length | up to 10 rods of 120 mm in one setup |
| Operator time | rods are changed automatically, not by hand |
| Atmosphere | rod change happens in protective gas |
| Process control | feed speed and rod rotation set precisely |
| Feedstock | rods cast in ATO Cast fit without adjustment |
Cast, load, atomize
Where the Revolver Rod Feeding System stops — and what to take instead
The Revolver needs an ATO ultrasonic atomizer and is built around 120 mm rods of the ATO Cast format. For one-off trials of a new alloy, the Single Rod Feeding System is simpler (1–10 mm rods, up to 110 mm). For long round rods in collets, up to 1200 mm in total, there is the Multi Rod Feeding System. For continuous feed from spooled welding wire, take the ATO Wire Feeding System, and for scrap or alloys with volatile elements, the Induction Melting System. Reactive powders still need the ATO Passivation Module after atomization.
Make your own powder, measure it, print it
The Revolver links the ATO Cast furnace and an ATO ultrasonic atomizer into one rod workflow. Cast rods, atomize them into spherical powder in the 20–120 µm range, check size distribution and sphericity on a Microtrac CAMSIZER X2+, print on an AO Metal LPBF printer, and repeat. The atomizer, analyzer and printer are also offered together as the R&D Bundle.
