What your production engineer actually checks

Dust-free blasting, no ATEX burden

The water-media slurry eliminates airborne dust and sparks, so the S1 Wet needs no ATEX compliance even on reactive metals like titanium and aluminum. Water also cushions media impact, protecting the surface and reducing media impregnation in the part.

Why metal AM teams run the S1 Wet

A wet process that skips the ATEX burden and protects the surface.

Dust-free, no ATEX needed

The water-media slurry eliminates airborne dust and sparks, so the S1 Wet needs no ATEX compliance — even on reactive metals like titanium and aluminum. No dust-extraction system to certify.

Controllable, gentle finish

Water cushions media impact, protecting surfaces and reducing media impregnation. Run angular or spherical media to move from a matte clean to a smoother, brighter finish.

PLC recipes, three modes

Store up to 30 recipes and run the cell manually, semi-automatically or fully automatically. A motorized turntable and nozzle gantry keep coverage consistent across the batch.

Closed-loop recycling

Water and blasting media recirculate through filtration in a closed loop, keeping consumption low and disposal minimal. Enclosed and below 80 dB(A) for the production floor.

How the S1 Wet runs a batch

Load the basket, select a recipe, let the cell run.

Step 01
Load the turntable

Place parts in a basket (5–30 L) on the Ø400 mm motorized turntable and select a stored PLC recipe for the alloy and finish.

Step 02
Wet-blast cycle

The nozzle gantry sweeps the media-water slurry across the rotating parts at set pressure. Water cushions impact for an even, gentle finish.

Step 03
Rinse, recycle, unload

Water and media filter and recirculate in a closed loop; clean, finished parts come out ready to inspect or move to coating.

Common questions

Don't see yours? Email [email protected] — NDA standard, typical reply within 4 hours.

What is wet blasting and why choose it over dry?
The AM Solutions S1 Wet accelerates an abrasive-media water slurry with compressed air instead of dry media. The water eliminates airborne dust and sparks — so there is no ATEX compliance burden — and cushions the impact, which protects surfaces and reduces media impregnation. For combustible polymer dust or dry finishing, the S1 (dry) is the alternative.
Which materials is the S1 Wet built for?
The S1 Wet is metal-first: it cleans and finishes LPBF metal parts, including reactive metals such as titanium and aluminum, and it also processes polymer parts. Because the process is wet and dust-free, it suits metals that would need ATEX handling in a dry cabinet. An Additive Plus engineer can confirm the right media and recipe for your alloy.
What part sizes fit in the S1 Wet?
The motorized turntable is Ø400 mm and the S1 Wet handles parts up to roughly Ø400 × 500 mm high, with a minimum part around 5 × 5 × 5 mm. Baskets are available in 5, 8, 12, 15, 20 and 30 L. The blast chamber measures 1094 × 730 × 1030 mm (43.7 × 28.7 × 40.6 in) with a 750 mm vertical gantry stroke.
How much control do I have over the finish?
The S1 Wet runs angular or spherical media in the slurry, letting you tune from a matte clean to a smoother, brighter surface. A PLC stores up to 30 recipes, and the cell runs manually, semi-automatically or fully automatically. Water cushioning keeps the process gentle and repeatable across operators.
Does the S1 Wet recycle water and media?
Yes. Water and blasting media run in a closed loop with filtration and recirculation, so consumption stays low and disposal is minimized. A motorized turntable and basket work with a vertical and horizontal nozzle gantry under PLC control to keep coverage consistent.
What infrastructure does the S1 Wet need?
The S1 Wet needs a 400 V, 50 Hz three-phase supply (US voltage on request) with 24 V DC controls, city water at G1″ and 2.5–4 bar, and compressed air at G1″ and 7 bar. Its footprint is 1390 × 2267 × 2144 mm. Additive Plus reviews utilities and layout as part of installation planning.
How loud is the S1 Wet?
The S1 Wet operates below 80 dB(A) at 4 bar. Because the process is wet and fully enclosed, it also keeps dust and media contained, so the surrounding area stays clean during operation.
What is the lead time and what is included?
The S1 Wet is built and configured to order, typically 8–12 weeks. Additive Plus includes install and operator training plus validated recipes, and supplies blast media, spares and service through a single US point of contact — so your team runs known-good parameters from handover.
