What your metrology engineer actually checks
Traceable to the standard
0.023 mm single-point and 0.044 + 0.012 mm/m volumetric accuracy, tested to VDI/VDE 2634 Part 3 and ISO 10360 in an ISO/IEC 17025 accredited lab. That is what your auditor and AS9100 process check — conformant numbers, not 'comparable to'.
An applications engineer on the line
Sample measurement of your actual parts, tracking-bar setup, and export into PolyWorks or Geomagic — from engineers who run these systems, not a remote ticket queue. Demo before you commit. Sub-4h reply, NDA standard.
The Shining 3D FreeScan Trak Pro2 is an optical 3D measuring and dynamic-tracking metrology system that pairs an infrared optical tracking bar with a large-FOV laser scanner and an optional FreeProbe contact probe. It measures large parts markerless at 0.023 mm single-point accuracy — verified to VDI/VDE 2634 Part 3 in an ISO/IEC 17025 accredited lab — across objects from a 0.1 m feature to a 10 m assembly.

Why metrology teams choose the FreeScan Trak Pro2
Traceable accuracy on large parts, without a stiff CMM or a wall of markers.
Certified, traceable accuracy
0.023 mm single-point and 0.044 + 0.012 mm/m volumetric accuracy, tested to VDI/VDE 2634 Part 3 and ISO 10360 in an ISO/IEC 17025 accredited lab — the numbers your QC sign-off and auditor expect.
Markerless dynamic tracking
An infrared tracking bar follows the scanner in real time, so you measure most parts without coded targets on the surface — less setup, no marker residue, and freedom to move around the object.
Three ways to measure
One system covers optical dynamic tracking, traditional marker scanning, and — with the optional FreeProbe — contact-probe measurement of hidden and hard-to-reach features at 0.025 mm.
50 laser lines, large FOV
Fifty crossed laser lines capture at 3,070,000 points/s across a 25.6 × 22.8 in / 650 × 580 mm field of view; drop to 7 or 1 line for fine detail and deep pockets.
How Additive Plus delivers your Trak Pro2
Verified, trained, and supported for a QC workflow.
Verify & certify
Each system is checked against its calibration artifacts and accuracy confirmed before shipment, so it meets its stated spec when it reaches your lab.
Install & train
Onboarding on tracking-bar setup, scan strategy, and export into Geomagic, PolyWorks, or SHINING3D Inspect — your metrology team is inspecting parts on the first job.
Sample scan & support
Send us a representative part and we measure it first, so you see Trak Pro2 data on your geometry before you commit. Post-sale support with a sub-4h reply.
Metrology Performance
The FreeScan Trak Pro2 reaches 0.023 mm single-point accuracy and 0.044 + 0.012 mm/m volumetric accuracy with photogrammetry, with point distance from 0.01 to 10 mm. Fifty crossed laser lines capture at 3,070,000 points/s for fast coverage; a 7-line mode adds fine detail and a single line reaches deep holes at a 1:4 depth ratio. Two 5.0 MP industrial cameras feed the data, and accuracy is verified in an ISO/IEC 17025 accredited lab to VDI/VDE 2634 Part 3. See the full specification table below.

Dynamic Tracking & Working Range
An infrared optical tracking bar follows the laser scanner in real time, so you move around the part instead of moving the part — no fixed reference markers required. The field of view reaches 25.6 × 22.8 in / 650 × 580 mm with 15.7 in / 400 mm of scan depth and an 11.8 in / 300 mm effective working distance, covering objects from roughly 0.1 m up to 10 m. For hidden or hard-to-reach features, the optional FreeProbe adds contact-probe measurement at 0.025 mm.

Software & Workflow
Data flows into the native FreeScan Trak software with real-time mesh display and exports to established metrology packages including Geomagic Control X, Geomagic Design X, PolyWorks, BlueStar Mapping, and SHINING3D Inspect. Output in STL, OBJ, PLY, ASC, and 3MF drops into inspection and reverse-engineering workflows for deviation analysis, GD&T, and first-article reporting.

Typical applications
Large-part inspection and reverse engineering across industry.

From inspection and metrology teams running the FreeScan Trak Pro2
Unedited feedback from QC and metrology users.
We measured a large weldment on the tracking bar without a wall of markers and matched our CMM report — a real time saver on big parts.
Being able to walk around a car body while the bar tracks the scanner cut our setup from an hour to minutes.
The FreeProbe reached features we could not see optically, and the ISO 17025 numbers gave our auditor no reason to push back.
