What your process engineer actually checks

Zero-loss recovery on metal that costs real money

On gold, platinum and palladium, yield is the whole business case. ATO Noble's closed-loop gas circulation and dedicated filtration recover nearly all the atomized metal and unused feedstock, and we run ultrasonic atomization in-house (ATO Lab / AO Metal) — so we can show you the recovery and powder quality on your own alloy before you commit.

An applications engineer on the line

Factory-trained support, not a remote ticket queue. We match the melting module, sonotrode frequency and atmosphere to your precious metals and help map frequency to particle size.

What the ATO Noble is

The ATO Noble is 3D Lab’s ultrasonic atomizer for precious metals. It shares the basic design of the ATO Lab — feedstock melted on a nanoalloy sonotrode, ultrasonic vibration breaking the melt into droplets of nearly equal size, spheres solidifying in argon — and is modified for expensive and rare alloys, where the economics are decided by how much metal comes back out.

That is the job of Zero Loss Technology: a specially adapted filtration system and a closed loop of gas circulation capture the fine powder that would otherwise be lost, and the collected material can be recovered for reuse with a single button. There is no minimum load, so a jeweler can atomize a small quantity of one karat and switch to another alloy without wasting metal. 3D Lab reports that the chemical composition stays the same after atomization, which keeps the precious-metal standard of the input stock. The atomization process is patent-protected, with granted patents in the United States (US 12,090,554 B), Poland, China, Japan, South Korea and India.

How Zero Loss works

Closed gas loopArgon circulates in a closed loop through the chamber and the collection system instead of being vented, so fines carried by the gas stay inside the machine.
Dedicated filtrationA filtration system adapted for precious metals captures the fine fraction that a standard atomizer would lose, raising the share of metal that comes out as usable powder.
One-button recoveryCollected material is recovered for reuse with a single button, and the cyclone and sieving unit sort the powder into the fractions your process needs.

Where the ATO Noble stops — and what to take instead

The ATO Noble is tuned for precious metals and small, valuable batches — up to 0.25 L/h. It is not the machine for titanium, aluminum or refractory alloy development: for those, the ATO Lab gives hands-on control and the ATO Sparq adds AI-guided setup and multi-unit supervision. Zero Loss keeps losses to a minimum; it does not make them zero, so plan your metal accounting with your own recovery figures from a trial run. Raw powder still needs sieving, and switching between alloys needs cleaning: plan for ATO Sieve and ATO Clean.

From scrap to a printed piece

The ATO Noble sits at the front of a closed precious-metal loop: atomize your alloy, check size and sphericity with a Microtrac CAMSIZER X2+, and print it on an AO Metal A100 or another AO Metal LPBF printer, then feed offcuts and supports back into the atomizer. The atomizer, analyzer and printer are offered together as the Jewelry Bundle.

What usually stops people — and the honest answer

“We cannot afford to lose metal.”That is what the ATO Noble is built around: closed-loop gas circulation and dedicated filtration capture the fines, and recovered material goes back into the next run. A paid trial atomization of your own alloy shows the powder and the recovery before you commit.
“Atomizing will change our karat.”3D Lab reports that the composition stays the same after atomization, which keeps the precious-metal standard of the input. Atomization runs under argon with oxygen below 10 ppm; assay your trial powder against your feedstock to confirm it for your alloy.
“Our batches are too small for an atomizer.”There is no minimum load. Atomize a small quantity of one alloy, clean, and switch to the next.
“We have no powder experience.”Installation and on-site operator training are included in every quotation, and the ATO Noble shares the basic design of the ATO Lab, which has been installed in research labs since 2019. You can also see an ATO atomizer running at UC Irvine before you decide.

Common questions

Don't see yours? Email [email protected] — NDA on request, typical reply within 4 hours.

Which metals can ATO Noble atomize?
ATO Noble is built for precious and noble metals: gold (9 ct, 18 ct and 99.99%), silver, platinum alloys, palladium and iridium, plus custom precious alloys. It takes wire, rods, scrap or irregular pieces, depending on the feeding and melting configuration.
How does Zero Loss Technology reduce precious-metal waste?
A specially adapted filtration system and a closed loop of gas circulation capture the fine powder that would otherwise be lost, and the collected material can be recovered for reuse with a single button. The aim is the highest possible share of usable powder from every gram you load.
Does atomization change the karat or chemical composition?
3D Lab reports that the chemical composition stays the same after atomization, which helps keep the precious-metal standard. Atomization runs under argon with oxygen below 10 ppm. As with any melting process, volatile elements can evaporate slightly under some conditions, so assay a trial batch against your feedstock.
What powder quality and particle size does ATO Noble produce?
Spherical powder with high flowability and a narrow particle size distribution. Size is set by the ultrasonic frequency module — 20, 35 or 52 kHz are listed — with higher frequencies giving finer powder. The cyclone and the sieving unit sort the powder into usable fractions.
What melting and atomization technology does ATO Noble use?
Feedstock is melted by TIG, with plasma and induction (IMS) available as modules, on a nanoalloy sonotrode driven at ultrasonic frequency. The vibration ejects fine droplets that solidify into spheres in argon. The process is patent-protected, with granted patents in the United States, Poland, China, Japan, South Korea and India.
What infrastructure is required to install ATO Noble?
A 3-phase 400–440 V, 50/60 Hz supply, argon, compressed air, an external liquid chiller, and floor space for a 700 kg unit listed at 1997 × 813 × 2000 mm. No atomization tower or powder plant is needed; it installs in a workshop or materials lab.
Can Additive Plus arrange a trial atomization before we buy?
Yes. A paid trial atomization of your own precious alloy can be arranged, so you can check powder quality, particle size and recovery before a capital purchase. Free powder samples of standard alloys are also available.
How does ATO Noble fit into a full precious-metal powder workflow?
It is the first step: ATO Sieve sorts the powder into fractions, a Microtrac CAMSIZER X2+ measures size and sphericity, and an AO Metal printer prints the powder into parts — the chain offered as our Jewelry Bundle. Offcuts and supports go back into the atomizer.
How does ATO Noble minimize precious metal loss?
By capturing the fines in its dedicated filtration system, keeping the gas in a closed loop, and recovering the collected material for reuse. With no minimum load, you also avoid melting more metal than the job needs.
Is ATO Noble suitable for jewelry manufacturing?
Yes. Jewelry and watchmaking are its main markets: it produces fine, uniform gold, silver and platinum powders for printed parts, metal injection molding, HIP and powder metallurgy.
What industries benefit from ATO Noble?
Jewelry, watchmaking, healthcare, electronics and microelectronics, aerospace, metal processing, additive manufacturing and precious-metal R&D.
Can scrap precious metal be recycled into new powder?
Yes. Clean scrap, offcuts and printing supports can be atomized into fresh powder, reducing dependence on outside suppliers and refiners.
Does ATO Noble support sustainable production?
Yes. Recycling scrap into powder in-house and keeping losses to a minimum reduce material waste and the transport of precious metal to and from refiners.
Is ATO Noble easy to operate?
Yes. It has an intuitive control interface with precise adjustment of the process parameters, built on the same basic design as the ATO Lab. On-site operator training is included in every quotation.
What safety features are included?
Cooling-water monitoring, automatic gas shut-off valves and emergency stop buttons. The atomizer is supplied with a CE Declaration of Conformity.
Can ATO Noble integrate with other ATO systems?
Yes. It is part of the ATO Metal Powder Production Suite and works with ATO Sieve, ATO Clean, ATO Cast and the Induction Melting System.
Is ATO Noble currently available?
Yes. Each ATO Noble is built to order with the modules you choose. Lead time is 8–12 weeks after a confirmed order, and the formal quotation states the date.
What downstream processes are supported?
Laser powder-bed fusion and other metal AM, metal injection molding, hot isostatic pressing, conventional powder metallurgy, conductive pastes and R&D.
Does ATO Noble support custom precious metal alloys?
Yes. Besides standard gold, silver and platinum-group alloys, it processes custom noble-metal compositions for product development.
How can I request pricing or configuration support?
Use the Request a formal quotation button on this page. You receive a quotation on our letterhead with configuration, price, payment terms and lead time; an applications engineer can help choose the melting, feeding and frequency modules first.
How much does ATO Noble cost?
ATO Noble is quoted to your configuration — melting, feeding and frequency modules and peripherals such as the chiller, ATO Sieve and ATO Clean. Request a formal quotation for configuration, price, payment terms and lead time on our letterhead. Installation and on-site operator training are included in every quotation.
Is there a minimum batch size?
No. ATO Noble has no minimum load, so you can atomize small quantities of an expensive alloy and change over to another material easily.
What throughput does ATO Noble offer?
Up to 0.25 L of powder per hour. For gold, 3D Lab gives a typical ATO figure of about 1.2 kg/h with the Induction Melting System, and about 0.8 kg/h for platinum.
What are the lead time and warranty?
Lead time is 8–12 weeks after a confirmed order. The warranty is 12 months, with US service engineers and local warranty support.
Can I see an ATO atomizer running before I buy?
Yes. We invite customers to see an ATO atomizer running in California, at UC Irvine. Book your visit on our visit page: additiveplus.com/ato-visit/.
Can I get a free powder sample?
Free powder samples of standard alloys are available. For gold, silver or platinum, a paid trial atomization of your own alloy is the way to see powder from your metal.
What is the difference between ATO Noble and ATO Lab?
They share the same ultrasonic platform. ATO Noble is modified for precious metals, with Zero Loss filtration and closed-loop gas circulation for maximum recovery. ATO Lab is the general-purpose research atomizer for titanium, aluminum, steels, nickel and refractory alloys.
