About this product

The Carbolite Gero CR is a range of clean room ovens with a 250°C maximum operating temperature, in nine standard chamber sizes from 30 to 1,810 litres. Everything about the CR is designed to keep particulates out of the load: fully sealed low-thermal-mass insulation that will not shed fibres, a fully enclosed brushless fan motor, a particle-free silicone rubber door seal and a polished, easily cleaned interior. A 301 controller with single ramp to setpoint and process timer runs the cycle, and an optional inert-atmosphere package, through-wall (flange-fitted) designs and stacking frames tailor the oven to contamination-sensitive drying, curing and heat-treatment work.

Why engineers choose the CR

Clean, low-shedding heating for contamination-sensitive parts — figures below are from the Carbolite Gero datasheet.

Low-shedding clean design

Fully sealed low-thermal-mass insulation avoids shedding fibres, an enclosed brushless fan motor keeps the airstream clean, and a particle-free silicone seal contains the chamber.

Nine sizes, 30–1810 L

From a 30 L bench chamber to an 1,810 L floor-standing unit — one clean-room design scales from single samples to production batches.

Easily cleaned, sealed interior

Polished stainless-steel interior and smooth exterior wipe down fast between runs, and a membrane control panel with a bright LED display keeps controls flush and cleanable.

Inert atmosphere & bespoke options

Optional inert-atmosphere operation, through-wall flange-fitted designs, over-temperature protection, viewing window and lockable door adapt the CR to your facility.

Common questions

What makes the CR a clean room oven?
The Carbolite Gero CR is built to keep particulates out of the load. It uses fully sealed low-thermal-mass insulation that will not shed fibres, a fully enclosed brushless fan motor, a particle-free silicone rubber door seal and a polished, easily cleaned stainless-steel interior. A smooth exterior and membrane control panel keep surfaces wipe-clean. These features make it suitable for contamination-sensitive drying, curing and heat treatment in controlled environments.
What temperature and chamber sizes does the CR offer?
The CR reaches 250°C and comes in nine standard sizes from 30 to 1,810 litres: CR/30, CR/70, CR/130, CR/180, CR/220, CR/330, CR/450, CR/840 and CR/1790. Temperature uniformity is around ±3°C. Smaller units are bench or cabinet scale; the largest are floor-standing. Our applications engineer will help match the chamber size to your parts and batch volume.
Can the CR run under an inert atmosphere?
An inert-atmosphere option is available on the CR, specified at time of order, for work that must avoid oxidation or air exposure. If your process needs tighter oxygen control or higher temperatures, the Carbolite Gero HTMA controlled-atmosphere oven reaches oxygen levels down to 50 ppm and up to 700°C. Additive Plus will help you decide whether an inert CR or a dedicated atmosphere oven is the better fit.
What controller does the CR use?
The CR ships with the Carbolite Gero 301 controller, which provides a single ramp to setpoint and a process timer, operated from a membrane panel with a bright LED display. For programmed multi-segment ramps, soaks, data logging and digital communications, a range of upgraded controllers and programmers can be specified at time of order. We will help match the controller to your process.
Can the CR be built into a cleanroom wall?
Yes. Through-wall (flange-fitted) designs are available so the CR can be mounted in a cleanroom partition, loading from one side and venting or servicing from the other. Fully customised bespoke designs are also offered. Additional options include over-temperature protection, an access port for an independent thermocouple, cable entry ports, viewing window, lockable door and stacking frame. Tell us your facility layout and we will configure it.
Is the CR suitable for drying 3D printing feedstock in a clean environment?
Yes. The CR is a good fit where feedstock drying or part conditioning must happen without introducing particulates — for example in medical, aerospace or electronics AM workflows. The low-shedding chamber and clean airstream avoid contaminating powders, filaments or finished parts. At up to 250°C it also handles clean curing and low-temperature annealing. We can recommend cycles for your specific material and cleanliness requirement.
What is the lead time and does Additive Plus install it?
The CR is configured to order, so lead time depends on the size and options chosen — request a current quote and we will confirm it. Additive Plus handles US-based delivery and setup, provides operator guidance, and coordinates Carbolite Gero spares, service and calibration locally. Because we run heat treatment in-house at AO Metal, we can advise on clean drying and curing cycles for your parts before the oven ships.
