About this product

The Carbolite Gero AX is a range of bench-mounted fan-convection laboratory ovens with a 250°C maximum operating temperature, available in three chamber sizes — 28, 66 and 128 litres. Fan convection gives rapid, uniform heating (±5°C at 250°C, roughly a 23-minute heat-up and 3-minute recovery), and a chemically resistant stainless-steel liner stands up to routine lab chemistry. The R38 digital PID controller sets and holds temperature; optional over-temperature protection and a countdown timer make the oven safe for unattended runs. In an additive workflow the AX is a workhorse for drying feedstock, conditioning samples and low-temperature annealing of polymer parts.

What is the maximum temperature and temperature uniformity of the AX oven?
The Carbolite Gero AX operates up to 250°C with temperature uniformity of ±5°C at 250°C. Fan convection drives rapid, even heating — a heat-up of about 23–26 minutes to setpoint and roughly 3 minutes to recover after the door is opened. The R38 digital PID controller sets and holds the target temperature. For work that needs programmed ramps or tighter control, the AX accepts a range of upgraded Carbolite Gero controllers and multi-segment programmers.
What chamber sizes are available?
The AX range has three bench-mounted sizes: AX30 (28 L), AX60 (66 L) and AX120 (128 L). All share the same 250°C rating and fan-convection design. Each comes with two nickel-chrome wire shelves and accepts up to four, six or eight shelf positions respectively. Units can be stacked with an optional frame to save bench space. Our applications engineer can help you pick the size based on batch and throughput.
Can the AX oven dry 3D printing powder or filament?
Yes. The AX is well suited to drying and conditioning additive feedstock — removing moisture from filament, polymer powder and pellets before printing, which improves layer adhesion and part quality. At up to 250°C it also handles low-temperature annealing of FDM and SLS parts and thermal curing of coatings. We can recommend drying temperatures and dwell times for your material so you get repeatable results without degrading the feedstock.
What controller does the AX use and can I program heating cycles?
The AX ships with the R38 digital PID controller for single-setpoint control. If you need programmed ramps, soaks and data logging, Carbolite Gero offers upgraded controllers, multi-segment programmers and loggers with digital communications that can be specified at time of order. Additive Plus will help you choose the right controller — from simple set-and-hold drying to multi-step conditioning cycles.
Is over-temperature protection included?
Over-temperature protection is an option on the AX, specified at time of order. We recommend it for unattended operation or when the oven holds valuable samples — it isolates the heating if the setpoint is exceeded, protecting both the contents and the oven. A digital countdown timer to switch the oven off and a lockable door are also available. The applications engineer will advise which safety options suit your workflow.
Can the AX ovens be stacked to save bench space?
Yes. An optional stacking frame lets AX units be mounted one above another, useful when bench space is limited or you want to run different processes in parallel. The AX is a bench-top oven, so it does not need a floor stand. Additional shelves and runners can also be specified to increase capacity within a single chamber.
