The QATM Qness 10 / 60 A+ is a fully automated micro hardness tester that runs Vickers, Knoop, Brinell and optional Rockwell across two force classes — 20 gf – 10 kgf on the Qness 10 A+ and 0.25 gf – 62.5 kgf on the Qness 60 A+ — pairing electronic force application with microscope-grade optics and incremental-scale positioning on all three axes.

Wide force range, two classes

Which hardness methods and scales does the Qness 10 / 60 A+ run?
The Qness 10 / 60 A+ runs optical Vickers (HV) and Knoop (HK) plus optical Brinell (HBW), with Rockwell (HR) available as an option through a dedicated test module. All four methods share the 8-position motorized turret, so you can hold up to three test heads and seven lenses at once and switch scales without re-fixturing the sample. Vickers and Knoop follow ISO 6507 / ISO 4545 and ASTM E384; Brinell follows ISO 6506 / ASTM E10; optional Rockwell follows ISO 6508 / ASTM E18.
How is the Qness 10 / 60 A+ calibrated and traceable?
Every Qness 10 / 60 A+ ships with DAkkS-traceable indenters and is verified against certified reference blocks during on-site install, per ISO 6507 / ISO 4545 / ISO 6506 and the matching ASTM procedures. Qpix Control2 logs the calibration and each measurement for your quality records. Hardness values are conformant to the standard for the method used, not directly comparable between methods, so we confirm the correct scales for your parts during setup and can arrange a tailored recalibration plan.
What is the difference between the Qness 10 and Qness 60 force classes?
The two classes share the same automated A+ platform but cover different force ranges. The Qness 10 A+ spans 20 gf to 10 kgf (0.196–98.07 N), suited to micro Vickers and Knoop on coatings, thin sections and small features. The Qness 60 A+ spans 0.25 gf to 62.5 kgf (0.00245–612.92 N), reaching from very low micro loads up into low-macro Brinell on a single frame. How does the A+ configuration compare with the Qness 10 / 60 M?
The A+ is the fully automated build: motorized XY cross slide, automatic electronic force application, the 8-position tool changer, a sample-image camera with automatic image acquisition (52 x 39 mm) and automatic test-head height, so full test-and-analysis cycles run unattended. The Qness 10 / 60 M covers the same micro force classes but uses a manual XY stage and manual focus for single-piece, hands-on testing at a lower cost. Choose the A+ for series work and automated case-depth or weld maps; choose the M for occasional single measurements.
Can the Qness 10 / 60 A+ automate case-hardening depth and weld-seam mapping?
Yes. With the automatic cross slide and Qpix Control2, the Qness 10 / 60 A+ runs programmed CHD, SHD and Rht Vickers traverses and hardness maps across a weld and its heat-affected zone without operator input between indents. The HRI function scans larger areas and auto-stitches the individual frames into one high-resolution overview — useful for full weld-seam documentation. Reports export directly into your QC records, and the automatic test-head height removes manual focusing between samples.

Yes. The micro-to-low-macro force range and microscope-grade optics make the Qness 10 / 60 A+ well suited to LPBF and DED builds, sintered and powder-metallurgy parts, coatings and platings, and classic metallography on mounts and sections. Micro Vickers and Knoop resolve hardness across fine microstructures and thin layers, while low-macro Brinell handles coarser or heterogeneous material.
