About this product

The QATM Qness 150 R is a fully automated Rockwell hardness tester that runs regular and superficial Rockwell across a 1–250 kgf (9.81–2450 N) electronic test-force range, applying every load under closed-loop electronic control — no dead weights — on parts up to 100 kg with a 180 mm throat and 260 mm test height.

Why QC labs choose the Qness 150 R

Regular and superficial Rockwell under closed-loop electronic force, on a frame built for large production parts.

Wide closed-loop force range

1–250 kgf (9.81–2450 N) applied under closed-loop electronic control. Regular Rockwell (60/100/150 kgf) and superficial Rockwell (15/30/45 kgf) on one frame, with no dead weights to hang or swap.

Regular & superficial Rockwell

Regular scales (HRA, HRB, HRC) and superficial scales (HR15N/30N/45N, HR15T/30T/45T) to ISO 6508 / ASTM E18, with hardened diamond-cone and ball indenters. Conformant, not comparable.

Built for large parts

180 mm throat depth, 260 mm test height (450 mm option), a 250×260 mm anvil and up to 100 kg workpiece weight — test heavy production parts without sectioning.

Automated positioning & reporting

Dynamic motorized height adjustment with collision-proof electronic movement control, integrated working-room lighting, and an onboard Windows PC/SSD running Qpix T2R for statistics and A4 PDF protocols.

How Additive Plus delivers it

Configured to your scales, installed and calibrated on-site, supported by engineers who run metallography daily.

Step 01
Configure to your lab

We spec the indenter set — diamond cone and ball indenters — anvils, sample holders, the 450 mm height extension and the Qpix T2R license around the parts and Rockwell scales you test.

Step 02
Install & train on-site

Factory-trained engineers install the system, verify calibration against certified Rockwell reference blocks per ISO 6508 / ASTM E18, and train your operators on Qpix T2R.

Step 03
Validated & supported

You leave with a tester that reproduces reference blocks in spec, DAkkS-traceable indenters in the box, and method support with a sub-24h engineer response.

Common questions

Don't see yours? Email [email protected] — NDA standard, typical reply within 4 hours.

Which Rockwell scales does the Qness 150 R run?
The Qness 150 R covers both regular Rockwell (scales such as HRA, HRB and HRC) and superficial Rockwell (HR15N/30N/45N and HR15T/30T/45T) to ISO 6508 and ASTM E18. Total test forces run from 15 kgf for superficial scales up to 150 kgf for regular scales, all within the tester's 1–250 kgf electronic force range, using hardened diamond-cone and ball indenters. Tell us the scales and materials you work with and we configure the indenter set accordingly.
What standards and calibration does it meet?
The tester is built and calibrated for regular and superficial Rockwell to ISO 6508 and ASTM E18. Every system is verified on site against certified Rockwell reference blocks, and ships with DAkkS-traceable indenters. As with any hardness method, Rockwell results are conformant to the standard, not directly comparable across methods or machines, so we set up calibration and reference blocks to match how your lab reports.
What is the maximum test force and how is it applied?
Test force ranges from 1 to 250 kgf (9.81–2450 N), which covers every regular (60/100/150 kgf) and superficial (15/30/45 kgf) Rockwell load. Force is applied fully automatically under closed-loop electronic control — there are no dead weights to hang or swap — so preliminary and total forces are held precisely and the whole test sequence runs without operator intervention.
How does the Qness 150 R compare with the Qness 150 RCS?
The 150 R is a dedicated Rockwell tester — regular and superficial Rockwell only, with automated electronic force. The 150 RCS adds an optical C-frame so the same machine can also read Vickers and Brinell indents optically alongside Rockwell. If your work is purely Rockwell on production parts, the 150 R is the leaner choice; if you need optical methods on one frame, step up to the 150 RCS or a 150 CS universal tester.
Can it handle large parts and automated Rockwell series?
Yes. A 180 mm throat depth, 260 mm test height (450 mm as an option) and a 250×260 mm anvil take workpieces up to 100 kg, so many finished production parts can be tested without sectioning. Dynamic motorized height adjustment with collision-proof electronic movement control positions the head, and Qpix T2R runs automated Rockwell series with statistics, bar graphs and A4 PDF protocols for your QC records.
What is the lead time and what does installation include?
Lead time is typically 6–10 weeks, configured to order. Installation is handled on site by factory-trained engineers: we set up the tester, verify calibration against certified Rockwell reference blocks per ISO 6508 / ASTM E18, and train your operators on Qpix T2R. DAkkS-traceable indenters are included, and you have a sub-24h engineer response and tailored service and calibration plans afterwards.
Can I test additively manufactured or powder-metallurgy samples?
Yes. The Qness 150 R measures Rockwell hardness on hardened and case-hardened steels, cast irons, non-ferrous alloys, hard coatings, and additively manufactured (LPBF/DED) or sintered PM parts. For AM materials our applications team can recommend the right scale and indenter, and run a benchmark Rockwell measurement on your samples in our lab before you commit to a configuration.
