What hardness methods and scales does the Qness 150 CS run?
The Qness 150 CS is a C-frame tester built around Rockwell — the full HRA to HRV regular scales and superficial HR15/30/45 — with electronic force application from 1 to 250 kg. It also runs load-controlled Brinell (HBT) and Vickers (HVT) by direct depth measurement, and plastics ball-indentation testing to ISO 2039. Built-in conversions follow ISO 18265, ISO 50150 and ASTM E140.
Which standards does it conform to, and how is it calibrated?
Rockwell testing conforms to ISO 6508 and ASTM E18. Every system is installed on-site and calibrated against certified reference blocks, with DAkkS-traceable indenters supplied in the box. Results are conformant to the standard, not a substitute for material-specific correlation, so we set up your scales and conversions during commissioning. Tailored recalibration plans keep the tester traceable over its service life.
How does the direct depth-gauge improve accuracy?
The Qness 150 CS uses a direct HEIDENHAIN depth-gauge positioned on the indenter axis at 0.05 µm resolution. Because indentation depth is read exactly where the indenter sits, deformation elsewhere in the frame does not enter the measurement — a known error source on indirect systems. Depth can be calibrated directly to the latest Rockwell norms, which is what keeps readings repeatable across operators and shifts.
How is the 150 CS different from the 150 CSA+?
Both share the same welded C-frame and 1–250 kg electronic force application. The 150 CS positions the sample manually with a spindle-driven table, which suits single-piece and small-batch Rockwell. The 150 CSA+ adds a motorized stage and a sample camera for automated, unattended test series. If you mostly run one part at a time, the CS is the economical choice; if you need programmed patterns, step up to the CSA+.
Can it reach test points on awkward or large parts?
Yes. The C-frame gives a 157 mm throat and 250 mm test height, and the table takes workpieces up to 100 kg on a ø100 mm mount, with a ¾-inch adapter and prisms available. The clamping head, or down-holder, removes with two screws so you can reach test points in hard-to-access contours. LED work-space lighting and the front start button make single-piece positioning and triggering fast, including with gloves.
What is the lead time, and is installation included?
Lead time is typically 6–10 weeks, configured to order. Every Qness 150 CS ships with on-site installation, calibration to ISO 6508 / ASTM E18 against certified reference blocks, and operator training on Qpix TE. Is it suitable for additive, powder-metallurgy and plastics samples?
It is. Rockwell on this frame covers hardened and case-hardened steels, tool steels, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and sintered or powder-metallurgy parts, as well as LPBF and DED additive builds. Load-controlled Brinell and Vickers extend the range for softer or coarser structures, and plastics are tested by ball indentation to ISO 2039.
