About this product

The QATM Qness 150 CSA+ is a fully automated C-frame universal hardness tester that runs Rockwell, Vickers and Brinell across a 1–250 kgf (9.81–2450 N) force range, combining electronic force application, a direct HEIDENHAIN depth-gauging system on the indenter axis, a motorized three-axis stage and a 5-megapixel sample-image camera.

QATM Qness 150 CSA+ universal hardness tester – automated three-axis Rockwell Vickers Brinell C-frame
Qness 150 CSA+ — fully automated three-axis universal hardness testing with sample-image camera.

Why metrology labs choose the Qness 150 CSA+

Three hardness methods, automatic positioning and full-table sample imaging on one welded C-frame.

Wide 1–250 kgf force range

Electronic force application from 1 to 250 kgf (9.81–2450 N) drives Rockwell, Vickers and Brinell on one welded steel C-frame — no dead weights to hang or swap.

Automatic three-axis control

A motorized XY slide and motorized test-table height run extensive series and hardness curves unattended; a dynamic joystick controls all three axes for single-piece work.

Depth-gauging you can certify

A HEIDENHAIN depth gauge on the indenter axis resolves 0.05 µm, so indentation depth is read directly — no system-deformation error — and calibrates to the latest Rockwell norms.

Sample camera + A+ automation

The CSA+ adds a 5-megapixel colour camera that records the whole table surface as a sample image, plus automatic test-head height. The base CS omits both and keeps a manual stage.

How Additive Plus delivers it

Configured to your standards, installed and calibrated on-site, supported by engineers who run metallography daily.

Step 01
Configure to your lab

We spec the frame load-out — Rockwell, Vickers and Brinell modules, indenters, clamping and downholder devices, sample holders and the Qpix Control 2 license — around the parts and standards you test.

Step 02
Install & train on-site

Factory-trained engineers install the system, verify calibration against certified reference blocks per ISO 6508 / ISO 6506 / ASTM E18 / E10, and train your operators on Qpix Control 2.

Step 03
Validated & supported

You leave with a tester that reproduces reference blocks in spec, DAkkS-traceable indenters in the box, and method support with a sub-24h engineer response.

Common questions

Don't see yours? Email [email protected] — NDA standard, typical reply within 4 hours.

Which hardness methods and scales does the Qness 150 CSA+ run?
The Qness 150 CSA+ is a universal C-frame tester that runs Rockwell, Vickers and Brinell across a 1–250 kgf (9.81–2450 N) test force range. Force is applied electronically in a closed loop, and the scale set — HRC, HRB and other Rockwell scales, macro Vickers HV and Brinell HBW — is configured to the parts and standards you test. A direct HEIDENHAIN depth gauge on the indenter axis reads indentation depth for the Rockwell methods.
Which standards is it calibrated to, and how are indenters traceable?
We calibrate the Qness 150 CSA+ to ISO 6508 and ASTM E18 for Rockwell, ISO 6506 and ASTM E10 for Brinell, and ISO 6507 and ASTM E384 for Vickers, against certified reference blocks. Indenters ship DAkkS-traceable. As with any hardness tester, results are conformant to the standard rather than directly comparable between different machines, which is why on-site calibration against your reference blocks is part of every install.
What is the maximum test force and part size it can handle?
The frame delivers up to 250 kgf (2450 N) of test force. Its 180 × 200 mm test table takes workpieces up to 100 kg, with 140 mm of test height and a 238 mm throat depth, so larger and heavier components can be reached without special fixturing. Height is motorized and infinitely adjustable, then fixed for repeatable series on identical parts.
How does the CSA+ differ from the base Qness 150 CS?
Both share the same 1–250 kgf universal C-frame and direct depth gauge. The CSA+ adds full automation: a motorized XY stage, automatic test-head height and a 5-megapixel sample-image camera that captures the whole table surface. The base CS uses a manual stage and has no sample camera. If you run large or repetitive test series and want unattended cycles with imaging, the CSA+ is the automated step up from the CS.
Can it run automated Rockwell and case-hardening-depth series unattended?
Yes. The motorized XY stage and test-table height let the Qness 150 CSA+ run extensive Rockwell series, hardness curves and Vickers case-hardening-depth (CHD/SHD) traverses with no operator at the machine. Qpix Control 2 drives the pattern, records each indent with the sample-image camera and generates the report. Fixed test height means clamp-free, repeatable measurement across identical parts.
What is the lead time and what does installation include?
Lead time is typically 6–10 weeks, configured to order. Every Qness 150 CSA+ is installed on-site by factory-trained engineers, calibrated against certified reference blocks to the applicable ISO and ASTM standards, and handed over with operator training on Qpix Control 2. DAkkS-traceable indenters are included, and we agree a tailored service and calibration plan so the tester stays in specification.
Is it suitable for additively manufactured and powder-metallurgy samples?
Yes. The Qness 150 CSA+ measures hardness on LPBF and DED metal builds and on sintered powder-metallurgy parts using Rockwell, Vickers or Brinell as appropriate to the section and feature size. Our applications team runs AM materials in-house and can develop the method, select indenters and, if useful, benchmark your samples in our lab before you buy.
