What your process engineering lead actually checks
Supported by the team that runs it
We run AO Metal and partner systems daily for our own print services, so install, training, and first builds are handled by engineers who actually operate the machine. When you call support, you reach the team that qualified it.
An applications engineer on the line
Questions on build volume, laser config, throughput, or material compatibility? A named applications engineer scopes it directly — not a sales rep. Most replies in under 4 hours, NDA on request.
- The AO Metal A100 printer, Ø100 × 100 mm (3.9 × 3.9 in) build envelope
- AO Build Studio software and slicer — no annual licence
- Spare-parts kit and warranty
- Training for your team, on your own material
- The print programs we have already validated for your alloys, handed over to you
- Powder supply and a named engineer after delivery
What the A100 is
The A100 is the largest machine in the AO Metal line: a floor-standing LPBF printer with a Ø100 × 100 mm (3.9 × 3.9 in) build envelope, for parts that no longer fit a research machine and for short production runs. A fiber laser melts metal powder directly into fully dense parts in one step; the optional 445 nm blue laser opens up copper, gold and silver, and the optional 900 °C platform takes on materials that crack when printed cold. The system is fully open: sixteen alloys proven to date with the list still open, all process parameters in your hands, and the validated print programs handed over with the machine.

Fully open — and we mean the parameters
- Laser power, scan speed and strategy
- Hatch spacing and layer thickness
- Contour and infill exposure — per zone
- Your own parameter sets, stored in AO Build Studio
- No cartridges and no chipped powder
- No approved-material list
- No annual software subscription
- No permission needed to run a powder you bought or developed yourself
Powder to start a build
A set of test parts 10 mm tall takes 527 g of 316L. An experiment costs a few hundred grams of powder, not a full dispenser.

| Dispenser filled to full height | 10.53 kg | 6.08 kg | 3.71 kg |
What you will also need. A wet vacuum cleaner (explosion-proof for reactive metals) and a sieving machine. Recommended: a heat-treatment furnace, a bandsaw or small lathe and a polishing tool. Filters, seals, hoses and recoater blades are ordinary components you can source locally.
