What your metrology engineer actually checks
Five-micron accuracy, traceable
Up to 0.005 mm accuracy, tested to VDI/VDE 2634 Part 2 and ISO 10360 in an ISO/IEC 17025 accredited lab. These are the conformant numbers your auditor and AS9100 process check — not 'comparable to'.
An applications engineer on the line
Sample measurement of your actual parts, dual-range and automation setup, and export into PolyWorks or Geomagic — from engineers who run these systems. Demo before you commit. Sub-4h reply, NDA standard.
The Shining 3D OptimScan Q12 / Q9 is a blue-light structured-light 3D inspection scanner for production quality control. It reaches up to 0.005 mm accuracy with four industrial cameras and a one-click dual scan range, captures each shot in under a second, and is verified in an ISO/IEC 17025 accredited lab — usable handheld, on a turntable, or integrated with a robot.

Why quality teams choose the OptimScan Q12 / Q9
Five-micron accuracy with the flexibility to scale from bench to production line.
Down to 0.005 mm accuracy
Up to 0.005 mm in the small range and 0.015 mm in the large range, tested to VDI/VDE 2634 Part 2 and ISO 10360 in an ISO/IEC 17025 accredited lab — traceable numbers for QC sign-off.
One-click dual scan range
Switch between a 160 × 110 mm detail range and a 430 × 300 mm large range in one click — no changing aperture or focus. Data from both ranges fuses seamlessly in software.
Four industrial cameras
Q12 carries four 12.3 MP cameras and Q9 four 9 MP cameras, capturing a dense, high-resolution point set in under a second per shot — fast enough for production cadence.
Handheld to fully automated
Use it in hand for flexibility, on a tripod with the automatic dual-axis turntable for semi-automated runs, or integrated with a robot for full-field, unattended inspection.
How Additive Plus delivers your OptimScan Q
Verified, trained, and supported for a QC workflow.
Verify & certify
Each system is checked against its calibration artifacts and accuracy confirmed before shipment, so it meets its stated spec when it reaches your lab.
Install & train
Onboarding on scan strategy, the dual scan range, turntable automation, and export into PolyWorks, Geomagic, or SHINING3D Inspect — your team is inspecting parts on the first job.
Sample scan & support
Send us a representative part and we measure it first, so you see OptimScan Q data on your geometry before you commit. Post-sale support with a sub-4h reply.
Inspection Performance
The OptimScan Q12 / Q9 uses a blue-LED structured-light source and four industrial cameras to reach up to 0.005 mm accuracy in the small range and 0.015 mm in the large range. Point distance runs from 0.04 mm (Q12 small range) to 0.11 mm (Q9 large range), with each shot captured in under a second. Accuracy is verified in an ISO/IEC 17025 accredited lab to VDI/VDE 2634 Part 2 and ISO 10360. See the full specification table below.

Dual Scan Range & Modes
The one-click dual range switches between a 160 × 110 mm field for fine features and a 430 × 300 mm field for larger parts, fusing the data in software so you keep detail without multiple setups. The same head works handheld for flexibility, on a tripod with the turntable for repeatable batches, or mounted on a robot for fully automated, full-field inspection — one scanner across manual QC and production lines.

Software & Workflow
Data flows into SHINING3D Inspect for full-field inspection and exports to established metrology packages including PolyWorks Inspector, Geomagic Control X, Geomagic Design X, EXModel Pro, and BlueStar Mapping. Output in STL, OBJ, PLY, and ASC supports deviation analysis, GD&T, and first-article reporting. We configure the export path into your existing inspection software during onboarding.
Typical applications
High-precision inspection across production.

Send us a representative part and we'll measure it on the OptimScan Q — review the deviation report before you commit.
From quality teams running the OptimScan Q12 / Q9
Unedited feedback from precision inspection users.
Five-micron accuracy on connector pins we could never nail with a laser scanner — the dual range is the trick.
We moved it onto the turntable and then a robot as volume grew — same scanner, no re-buy.
The ISO 17025 numbers went straight into our first-article report with no argument from the auditor.
