About this product

PowderRange® CCM-MC is a non-magnetic cobalt-chromium-molybdenum (CoCrMo) alloy combining high strength, corrosion resistance and outstanding wear resistance. A high-nitrogen, medium-carbon wrought version of ASTM F75, it is produced by vacuum induction melting (VIM) followed by nitrogen gas atomization for clean, repeatable chemistry.

It holds strength up to 1112°F (600°C), is biocompatible when nickel is kept below 0.1%, and is non-magnetic (MRI-compatible) — ideal for small, high-strength biomedical devices.

Why teams buy this powder from Additive Plus

  • Genuine Carpenter PowderRange® CCM-MC — VIM-melted, nitrogen gas-atomized for high sphericity and consistent flow.
  • Available in small, workable volumes. Most mills sell large minimums and hide pricing behind an account. We stock this alloy and sell it in accessible quantities at a clear, published price.
  • Full COA with every lot — particle size distribution, chemistry, apparent density and flow rate, with a traceable lot number.
  • Fast dispatch from Los Angeles.
  • Need a custom alloy or a tighter cut? We also run our own atomization in-house and can produce custom small-batch powder on request — separate from this stocked product.

Standards & equivalents

  • Applicable specification: ASTM F3213 (wrought CoCrMo, related to ASTM F75)
  • Equivalents / alternate names: CoCrMo · CoCr28Mo6 · Cobalt Chrome Moly · LaserForm CoCr · CobaltChrome MP1
  • Machine type: F — LPBF · also E — EBM / DED · Particle size: 15–45 µm · Bottle: 10 kg / 22 lbs
  • Quality: manufactured by Carpenter Additive under AS9100, AS9120, ISO 9001 & ISO 13485 quality systems. (These certifications are Carpenter’s, covering the powder; Additive Plus resells genuine, fully traceable lots and is not itself a certified manufacturer.)

Chemical composition

Typical chemistry (wt%), per the Carpenter PowderRange® datasheet:

Element Content Element Content
Cobalt (Co) Balance Manganese (Mn) ≤ 1.00%
Chromium (Cr) 27.00–30.00% Silicon (Si) ≤ 1.00%
Molybdenum (Mo) 5.00–7.00% Nickel (Ni) ≤ 0.50%
Nitrogen (N) ≤ 0.25% Iron (Fe) ≤ 0.75%
Carbon (C) 0.10–0.20% Titanium (Ti) ≤ 0.10%
Aluminum (Al) ≤ 0.10% Tungsten (W) ≤ 0.20%
Oxygen (O) ≤ 0.10% Phosphorus (P) ≤ 0.020%
Sulfur (S) ≤ 0.010% Boron (B) ≤ 0.010%

Heat treatment & processing

  • Excellent weldability in laser AM; can be processed under nitrogen or argon shielding gas.
  • Stress relief / solution treatment can be applied to optimise properties for the application.
  • The medium-carbon, high-nitrogen chemistry raises strength versus standard low-carbon CCM.

Key performance benefits

  • High strength up to 1112°F (600°C)
  • Excellent wear and erosion resistance
  • Corrosion resistant across many environments
  • Biocompatible (Ni < 0.1%) and non-magnetic / MRI-compatible

Typical applications

  • Orthopedic and dental implants
  • Medical fracture-fixation devices
  • Gas-turbine nozzles and instrumentation
  • Oil-and-gas tooling and instrumentation

Same lot 4 times in a row. We stopped re-running parameter sweeps after the second order — density was identical to the first build.

Asked about ferrite content on a Friday. A materials engineer answered Monday morning with actual data, not a sales pitch. That's why we keep ordering.

COA matches the bottle. PSD and flow are exactly what was on the sheet — we run it on a Renishaw 500Q and it hits density on the first try.
