What your QC lab actually checks

Temperature-resolved carbon and water

Up to five programmable temperature steps to 1,000 °C, with selectable nitrogen or oxygen carrier, release the individual carbon and water fractions of a sample so infrared cells can resolve TOC and TIC without any acid digestion. The result is a fraction "chromatogram" of CO₂ and water — ideal for soils, sediments, cement, slag and waste where organic and inorganic carbon must be separated.

About this product

The ELTRA CW-800M is a multi-ramp version of the CW-800 for the simultaneous determination of carbon dioxide and water — and for TOC/TIC without adding acids. Up to five programmable temperature steps (up to 1,000 °C) with selectable carrier gas release the different carbon and water fractions of a sample, which infrared cells measure to build a “chromatogram” of the fractions. Minimal sample preparation, a gold IR path and no halogen trap make it robust for cement, minerals, soil, slag and waste.

Why environmental and minerals labs choose the CW-800M

Temperature-resolved carbon and water fractions — TOC/TIC without acids.

Up to 5 programmable ramps

Define up to five temperature steps with different carrier gases to release and resolve individual carbon and water fractions in a single run.

TOC & TIC without acids

Separate total organic and total inorganic carbon thermally — no acid digestion, less sample handling and no acid waste to manage.

CO₂ + water in one chromatogram

Simultaneous CO₂ and water determination produces a fraction “chromatogram” that shows how carbon and water are distributed across the temperature program.

Gold IR path, dual carrier gas

Customized IR cells with a gold path extend cell life on halogen- or acid-containing samples; nitrogen and oxygen carriers, no halogen trap and electronic gas-flow control keep it low-maintenance.

What does the ELTRA CW-800M measure, and how is it different from the CW-800?
The CW-800M simultaneously determines carbon dioxide and water, and it additionally separates TOC (total organic carbon) and TIC (total inorganic carbon) without adding acids. Unlike the single-step CW-800, it lets you define up to five programmable temperature steps with different carrier gases, so different carbon and water fractions are released and resolved in one run as a fraction "chromatogram".
How does the measurement work?
You weigh the sample into a quartz boat and place it on the loading mechanism of the furnace. A user-defined program then applies different temperatures (up to 1,000 °C) and carrier gases, and the CO₂ and water released at each step are measured by infrared cells. The software builds a chromatogram of the carbon and water fractions. An external PC controls the process; a typical analysis takes up to about 20 minutes depending on the program.
Can it separate TOC and TIC without acid?
Yes — that is the key advantage of the CW-800M. Because carbon is released thermally in defined temperature steps, total organic and total inorganic carbon can be distinguished without acid digestion. This removes acid handling and acid waste from the workflow and reduces sample preparation, which is valuable in environmental, soil, sediment and building-material labs.
Which materials is the CW-800M used for?
The CW-800M is used for gypsum, cement, limestone, minerals, ores, soil, slag and waste, across construction-material, geology/mining, environment/recycling and agriculture labs. Anywhere the organic and inorganic carbon fractions or bound water need to be resolved, the programmable temperature steps give a clear picture with minimal preparation.
What carrier gases and consumables does it use?
The CW-800M uses nitrogen and oxygen at 99.995 % purity (2–4 bar) as selectable carrier gases, and copper oxide, magnesium perchlorate and sodium hydroxide as reagents. Customized infrared cells with a gold IR path extend cell life on halogen- or acid-containing samples, so no halogen trap is required. Electronic gas-flow control keeps the temperature-program conditions stable.
What does the CW-800M need to run?
It needs nitrogen and oxygen at 99.995 % purity, an external PC and monitor, and a balance with 0.0001 g resolution. It runs on 230 V, 50/60 Hz (max 10 A, 2,300 W). A TIC module and a 5 kVA voltage stabilizer are available as options. The analyzer measures about 550 × 800 × 600 mm and weighs ~65 kg, so it fits on a standard lab bench.
What is the lead time, and can Additive Plus set it up?
The CW-800M is configured to order; request a quote for the current lead time. Additive Plus is an authorized ELTRA / Verder Scientific channel and handles installation, gas and balance connection, calibration and operator training, then helps build your multi-step TOC/TIC and CO₂/water SOP. You can also send a sample for a paid measurement first. Sub-4h reply, NDA standard.
