What your metrology engineer actually checks
Large FOV without losing traceability
0.072 mm accuracy and 0.072 + 0.012 mm/m volumetric with VPG, across a field of view up to 102 × 87 in / 2600 × 2200 mm, tested to VDI/VDE 2634 Part 3 and ISO 10360 in an ISO/IEC 17025 accredited lab. Those are the conformant numbers your auditor and AS9100 process check.
An applications engineer on the line
Sample measurement of your actual parts, help with FOV modes and integrated VPG, and export into PolyWorks or Geomagic — from engineers who run these systems. Demo before you commit. Sub-4h reply, NDA standard.
The Shining 3D FreeScan UE Nova is a fully wireless, metrology-grade blue-laser handheld 3D scanner built for large-volume inspection. It measures at 0.072 mm accuracy with 50 blue-laser lines at 4,600,000 points/s, stays markerless through patented integrated video photogrammetry (VPG), and reaches a field of view up to 102 × 87 in / 2600 × 2200 mm — so you can capture large castings, panels, and structures in a single, cable-free session.
Why metrology teams choose the FreeScan UE Nova
Large-FOV capture, traceable accuracy, no coded markers, no cable.
Certified, traceable accuracy
0.072 mm accuracy and 0.072 + 0.012 mm/m volumetric accuracy with VPG, tested to VDI/VDE 2634 Part 3 and ISO 10360 in an ISO/IEC 17025 accredited lab — audit-ready numbers for QC sign-off.
The largest field of view in the class
Up to 102 × 87 in / 2600 × 2200 mm field of view at a 2300 mm working distance, with 50 blue-laser lines capturing 4,600,000 points/s. Near, Standard, and Far FOV modes adapt to part size.
Markerless with integrated VPG
Patented video photogrammetry is built in and constructs a global reference frame in real time — no stick-on coded targets across the part. Less setup, no marker residue, reliable capture on big, complex, and reflective surfaces.
Wireless, inspect anywhere
Fully wireless at 3.5 lbs / 1.6 kg with hot-swappable batteries and built-in computing for on-device processing. A wired fiber-optic mode is available when you need it — work on the floor, in the field, or in the metrology room.
How Additive Plus delivers your UE Nova
Verified, trained, and supported for a large-part QC workflow.
Verify & certify
Each unit is checked against its calibration rod and accuracy confirmed before shipment, so it meets its stated spec when it reaches your lab or floor.
Install & train
Onboarding on FOV modes, VPG scan strategy for large parts, and export into PolyWorks, Geomagic, or SHINING3D Inspect — your team is inspecting on the first job.
Sample scan & support
Send us a representative part and we measure it first, so you see UE Nova data on your geometry before you commit. Post-sale support with a sub-4h reply.
Large-Volume Metrology Performance
The FreeScan UE Nova measures at 0.072 mm accuracy and 0.072 + 0.012 mm/m volumetric accuracy with video photogrammetry, with a point distance of 0.5–10 mm and a field of view up to 102 × 87 in / 2600 × 2200 mm. Fifty crossed blue-laser lines capture 4,600,000 points/s at a 2300 mm working distance (usable 300–2600 mm). Accuracy is verified in an ISO/IEC 17025 accredited lab to VDI/VDE 2634 Part 3 and ISO 10360. See the full specification table below.
Integrated VPG & Flexible Field of View
Integrated video photogrammetry builds a global reference frame as you scan, so large panels, castings, and structures stay dimensionally coherent without a stick-on marker field — a decisive advantage as parts grow. Three flexible FOV modes let one scanner cover the range: Near (300–800 mm) for detail, Standard (600–1500 mm) for general work, and Far (1200–2600 mm) for the largest parts. Blue-laser lines capture normal, black, and reflective surfaces, so many parts scan with no matting spray.
Software & Workflow
Data flows into SHINING3D Inspect and exports to established metrology packages including PolyWorks, Geomagic Control X, Geomagic Design X, EXModel Pro, and BlueStar Mapping. That supports deviation analysis, GD&T, and first-article reporting for large-scale component inspection and reverse engineering. A calibration rod for real-time verification ships in the box.
Typical applications
Large-part inspection and reverse engineering across heavy industry.

From inspection teams running the FreeScan UE Nova
Unedited feedback from QC and metrology users.
Scanning a 2-meter casting in one setup used to mean a full marker field — the UE Nova's large FOV and integrated VPG cut our setup to minutes.
The field of view is the story: we capture whole body panels without stitching a hundred small scans, and the ISO 17025 numbers cleared sign-off.
Cable-free with hot-swap batteries means we inspect large weldments on the floor instead of craning them into the lab.
