What your adsorption lab actually checks

Pretreatment off the critical path

Degassing 3 or 6 samples in parallel while the analyzer measures removes the main throughput bottleneck — and consistent vacuum-and-heat prep is what keeps BET and pore numbers reproducible.

About this product

BELPREP VAC is a vacuum degasser for gas adsorption sample preparation — it removes adsorbed moisture and contaminants by vacuum and heat on 3 or 6 ports (VAC II / VAC III), so your BELSORP analyzer stays free for measurement.

What Is the BELPREP VAC: Dedicated Sample Degassing

Before a surface-area or pore-size measurement, samples must be degassed to remove water and contaminants that would otherwise skew the result. The BELPREP VAC does this on a dedicated station — vacuum and heat as standard, with an optional flow-and-heat mode — so pretreatment runs in parallel with analysis instead of tying up the analyzer. It comes in two models: BELPREP VAC II (3 ports) and BELPREP VAC III (6 ports). See full specifications below.

Why adsorption labs add the BELPREP VAC

Consistent degassing that keeps the analyzer measuring.

Parallel sample prep

Degas 3 or 6 samples at once while your analyzer measures — pretreatment stops being the throughput bottleneck.

Vacuum + heat to 450 °C

Standard vacuum-and-heat degassing to 430 °C (VAC II) or 450 °C (VAC III), ±5 °C; an optional flow-and-heat mode suits samples better prepared under gas flow.

Reproducible data

Proper degassing is what makes BET and pore results reproducible — a dedicated station does it consistently, independent of the analyzer schedule.

Companion to BELSORP

Pairs with BELSORP surface-area and pore analyzers so measurement throughput isn’t limited by on-instrument pretreatment.

Common questions

Don't see yours? Email [email protected] — NDA standard, typical reply within 4 hours.

Why is sample degassing necessary before adsorption measurement?
Powders and porous solids adsorb moisture and other contaminants from air. If those are not removed, they occupy surface and pore sites and give falsely low surface-area and pore-volume results. Degassing under vacuum and heat cleans the surface so a BET or pore measurement reflects the material itself. The BELPREP VAC does this consistently, which is essential for reproducible, comparable data.
How many samples can the BELPREP VAC prepare at once?
The BELPREP VAC is available with 3 or 6 pretreatment ports, so it degasses several samples in parallel. Because pretreatment runs on this dedicated station rather than on the analyzer, your BELSORP stays free to measure. That decoupling is the main throughput gain — degassing, which can take hours, no longer blocks measurement time.
What degassing modes does it offer?
Vacuum-and-heat degassing is standard: the sample is heated under vacuum to drive off adsorbed species. An optional flow-and-heat mode prepares samples under a gas flow instead, which suits certain materials. We help you choose the mode, temperature and time so pretreatment removes contaminants without altering or damaging the sample surface.
Which analyzers does the BELPREP VAC work with?
The BELPREP VAC is a companion degasser for BELSORP surface-area and pore-size analyzers such as the MINI X, MAX G and MAX X. Samples are degassed on the BELPREP VAC and then transferred to the analyzer for measurement. We confirm the fit with your specific BELSORP model and sample cells before quoting.
What lead time and support come with the BELPREP VAC?
The BELPREP VAC is configured to order — port count and degassing mode to your samples — so lead time depends on the configuration; request a current timeline and we confirm it in writing. Installation, integration with your BELSORP workflow and degassing-protocol guidance are included, backed by application engineering with a sub-4-hour response.
