About this product

BELSORP MAX G is a dedicated volumetric gas adsorption analyzer for BET surface area and micro-to-mesopore distribution — ultra-low pressure to P/P₀ 10⁻⁸, from 0.0005 m²/g with krypton, in a compact bench-top frame.

What Is the BELSORP MAX G: Micropore-Capable Gas Adsorption

The BELSORP MAX G measures nitrogen, argon, krypton, CO₂ and other gas isotherms by the volumetric method with AFSM™ free-space technology, then derives BET surface area and micro-to-mesopore distribution. It brings ultra-low-pressure micropore resolution into a compact, gas-only instrument. See full specifications below.

Why labs choose the BELSORP MAX G

Micropore resolution and krypton low-area capability, without a floor-standing analyzer.

Micropore resolution

Ultra-low pressure to P/P₀ 10⁻⁸ with HK, SF, NLDFT and GCMC models resolves micropores in zeolites, MOFs and carbons.

Krypton low-area

Surface area from 0.0005 m²/g with krypton — the dense, low-surface-area samples that nitrogen adsorption struggles to resolve.

Compact & expandable

Two standard ports expand to five; 36 kg bench-top. Micropore capability without committing to a full-size floor instrument.

Helium-free option

AFSM™ free-space measurement is available — fewer consumables and no constant liquid-nitrogen level top-ups during long runs.

How Additive Plus delivers it

Common questions

Don't see yours? Email [email protected] — NDA standard, typical reply within 4 hours.

How does the BELSORP MAX G differ from the MINI X and MAX X?
The MAX G is the gas-only, micropore-capable middle of the range. It reaches ultra-low pressure (P/P₀ = 10⁻⁸) for micropore analysis like the MAX X, but in a compact 36 kg frame and without the MAX X vapor option. The MINI X is the compact mesopore workhorse (down to 10⁻⁴). Choose the MAX G when you need micropore resolution on gases but not vapor adsorption.
What surface area and pore size range does it measure?
The BELSORP MAX G measures BET surface area from 0.01 m²/g with nitrogen and down to 0.0005 m²/g with krypton, and pore size distribution across 0.35 to 500 nm. Ultra-low-pressure isotherms to P/P₀ = 10⁻⁸ with HK, SF, NLDFT and GCMC models resolve micropores in zeolites, MOFs and carbons alongside conventional mesopore analysis.
When do I need krypton instead of nitrogen?
For very low-surface-area samples — dense powders, films and some ceramics — nitrogen adsorbs too little to give a reliable BET result. Krypton, with its lower saturation pressure, resolves surface areas down to 0.0005 m²/g on the BELSORP MAX G. We help you decide whether your samples need krypton and configure the gas line accordingly.
How many samples can it run and how is it expandable?
The BELSORP MAX G has two standard measurement ports, expandable up to five, so you can scale throughput as demand grows. A high-accuracy mode runs a single port for the most precise micropore isotherms. The compact 36 kg bench-top frame keeps micropore capability accessible without a floor-standing analyzer.
Is helium-free measurement available?
Yes. AFSM™ free-space measurement determines dead volume without a helium calibration and avoids constant liquid-nitrogen level top-ups. That removes a consumable and a manual step and improves run-to-run repeatability. BELCONTROL and BELMASTER 7 software handle measurement and analysis, and a cryostat option supports temperature control for isosteric-heat studies.
What sample pretreatment does it need?
Samples are degassed to remove adsorbed moisture and contaminants before measurement, either on-instrument or with a separate BELPREP VAC degasser for higher throughput. Correct degassing temperature and time are essential for accurate micropore data, and we help you set them so pretreatment cleans the surface without altering the material.
What lead time and support come with the BELSORP MAX G?
The BELSORP MAX G is configured to order, so lead time depends on port count, gases and options such as the cryostat — request a current timeline and we confirm it in writing. Every system includes installation, BELCONTROL/BELMASTER 7 training and a validated first run on your own sample, backed by application engineering with a sub-4-hour response.
