What your process engineer actually checks

Resolution you can trust

Adsorption from P/P₀ 10⁻⁸ with NLDFT and GCMC models resolves micropores that bench-top analyzers average over. Every isotherm is traceable to ISO 9277 and ISO 15901-2 — not a marketing curve.

About this product

BELSORP MAX X is a manometric (volumetric) gas adsorption analyzer for BET specific surface area and pore size distribution — resolving pores from 0.35 to 500 nm and surface areas down to 0.01 m²/g on up to four samples at once.

What Is the BELSORP MAX X: High-Resolution Gas Adsorption

The BELSORP MAX X measures adsorption and desorption isotherms by the manometric method with AFSM™ saturated-pressure monitoring, then derives BET surface area, pore size distribution and pore volume. It covers the full range from micropores in zeolites, MOFs and activated carbons to mesopores and macropores in catalysts, battery materials and ceramics. See full specifications below.

Why labs choose the BELSORP MAX X

Resolution, throughput and standards conformance in one bench-top platform.

Micropore resolution

Adsorption from P/P₀ 10⁻⁸ resolves micropores in zeolites, MOFs and carbons — HK, SF, MP, NLDFT and GCMC models built in.

Four samples at once

Up to four ports measure in parallel; three gas ports expand to twelve via the gas selector — throughput without a second instrument.

Gas and vapor in one

N₂, Ar, CO₂, H₂, Kr and organic vapors (H₂O, benzene, alcohols) on one platform — water-vapor sorption to P/P₀ ~0.95 at 40 °C.

Standards-referenced

Conforms to ISO 9277 (BET), ISO 15901-2 (mesopore) and ISO 18852 — the traceable numbers your QC and R&D sign-off need.

How Additive Plus delivers it

Configured to your materials, installed and method-supported — not drop-shipped.

Step 01

Common questions

Don't see yours? Email [email protected] — NDA standard, typical reply within 4 hours.

What surface area range can the BELSORP MAX X measure?
The BELSORP MAX X measures BET specific surface area from 0.01 m²/g with nitrogen and down to 0.0005 m²/g with krypton for low-surface-area samples. Pore size distribution runs from 0.35 nm micropores to 500 nm macropores, with relative pressure resolved to P/P₀ = 10⁻⁸. That range covers everything from dense battery cathodes to high-surface-area activated carbons and MOFs on one instrument.
Which gases and vapors does it support?
It runs nitrogen, argon, CO₂, hydrogen, krypton and other non-corrosive gases for surface area and pore analysis. With the vapor option it also measures water, benzene, toluene, alcohol, hexane and other organic vapor isotherms up to about P/P₀ 0.95 at 40 °C. The three standard gas ports expand to twelve through the gas selector, so you switch adsorptives on the BELSORP MAX X without re-plumbing.
How many samples can it measure at once?
The standard BELSORP MAX X measures up to four samples in parallel (three on the high-pressure model). Parallel ports run four isotherms on one temperature bath and one control system, raising throughput without the cost or bench space of a second analyzer — useful for QC labs comparing lots or R&D screening several formulations at once.
What standards does the BELSORP MAX X conform to?
Results conform to ISO 9277 for BET surface area, ISO 15901-2 for mesopore analysis by gas adsorption, and ISO 18852. The instrument is CE certified. Standards conformance is what QC sign-off, ISO audits and customer specifications require — the BELSORP MAX X reports traceable numbers, not comparable estimates.
What analysis methods are included in the software?
BELMASTER computes BET and Langmuir surface area, t-plot and αs micropore/external area, BJH and DH mesopore distribution, and HK, SF and MP micropore analysis, plus NLDFT and GCMC simulation for combined micro/mesopore modeling. BELCONTROL handles measurement. Additive Plus provides method development support so you apply the right model to your material.
What sample pretreatment (degassing) is required?
Samples are degassed to remove adsorbed moisture and contaminants before measurement; the BELSORP MAX X pretreatment heater covers 50–550 °C. For higher throughput a separate BELPREP VAC degasser prepares samples in parallel while the analyzer runs. We help you set degassing temperature and time so it removes contaminants without altering the sample surface.
What lead time and support should we expect?
The BELSORP MAX X is configured to order, so lead time depends on ports, gas selector, cryostat and vapor options — request a current timeline and we confirm it in writing. Every system includes installation, BELCONTROL/BELMASTER training and a validated first measurement on your own sample, backed by application engineering with a sub-4-hour response.
