About this product

A-Powder by AO Metal · 17-4PH

A-Powder 17-4PH is a precipitation-hardening stainless steel powder: print the part, then age it in one low-temperature step to the strength and toughness your drawing calls for.

17-4PH powder in brief

  • Hardens after printing — a single ageing treatment sets the strength–toughness balance.
  • Stronger than 316L — with good general corrosion resistance.
  • Nitrogen-atomized — read the note below if your spec calls for argon-atomized 17-4.

About A-Powder. A-Powder is AO Metal’s own line of LPBF metal powders, produced in China under an ISO 9001 quality system. Additive Plus sells and supports it in the US — you order and pay here, and our materials engineer answers your questions.

Good to know before you order

This 17-4PH is nitrogen-atomized.

A-Powder does not offer argon-atomized 17-4PH at this time. Nitrogen-atomized 17-4PH can retain more austenite as-built, so plan your heat treatment accordingly. If your drawing or qualification calls for argon-atomized (“17-4 AR”) powder, talk to our materials engineer before ordering.

Made in China. If your program requires US- or allied-origin material (for example DFARS-compliant supply), see our Carpenter Additive alternative or ask our engineer.

Questions about A-Powder 17-4PH

What is A-Powder?

AO Metal’s own brand of LPBF metal powders, produced in China under an ISO 9001 quality system and sold and supported in the US by Additive Plus.
