The Delfin DM 3 EL is a single-phase heavy-duty industrial vacuum for wet and dry pickup — the compact member of the DM3 family. A 3 HP by-pass motor pulls 283 CFM through a 3-inch inlet, so it clears dry swarf, settled dust, coolant and spills without a three-phase supply. A large 32 ft² antistatic star filter (Class M) with a manual shaker keeps suction steady and resists clogging, and the 16-gallon container handles a full shift of general shop and production waste. It plugs into standard single-phase power, which makes it an easy fit for workshops that don’t have 3-phase at every bay.

What can the DM 3 EL pick up?
The DM 3 EL is a general-purpose wet and dry industrial vacuum. It clears dry debris — metal swarf, granules, packaging offcuts and settled non-combustible dust — and recovers liquids such as coolant, wash water and spills, into the same 16-gallon container. With 283 CFM and a 3-inch inlet it keeps up with continuous shop-floor and production waste. For reactive or combustible metal powder, use a rated inert or ATEX unit instead; send us the material if you are unsure.
Is the DM 3 EL single-phase or three-phase?
The DM 3 EL runs on single-phase 115 V power, which is what makes it useful: it delivers 3 HP heavy-duty pickup from a standard outlet, with no three-phase installation needed at the bay. That suits workshops and production areas that do not have three-phase available everywhere. If you need higher continuous volume, the three-phase DG 70 is the step up, and Additive Plus can help you compare the two.
Can it handle both wet and dry material?
Yes. The DM 3 EL is a true wet and dry vacuum — it collects dry solids and dust as well as liquids into the same 16-gallon container, so you don't need a separate machine for coolant or spills. Switch between dry and wet pickup without reconfiguring the unit. For heavy or sustained liquid recovery specifically, the MTL 802 WD is a dedicated liquids unit Additive Plus also carries.
What filter does it use and how is it cleaned?
The DM 3 EL uses a large 32 ft² star filter in antistatic polyester, rated Class M under IEC 60335-2-69. The star geometry gives a big filtering surface that resists clogging, and the antistatic construction bleeds off static build-up. An integrated manual shaker lets you clean the filter in seconds without opening the machine, which keeps suction constant across a long shift. Genuine Delfin replacement filters are stocked in the US.
Is the DM 3 EL safe for metal powder or combustible dust?
The DM 3 EL is a general industrial vacuum for non-combustible material. It is not an ATEX-rated or inert unit, so it should not be used for reactive metal powders such as aluminum or titanium, or for bulk combustible dust. For those applications Additive Plus carries the Delfin Mistral inert and D2 ATEX vacuums. If you are unsure whether your dust is combustible, send us the material and particle size and an engineer will confirm the right unit before you buy.
How strong is the suction and how big is the container?
The DM 3 EL is driven by a 3 HP by-pass motor delivering 283 CFM of airflow and 81 inH₂O of water lift through a wide 3-inch inlet — a combination suited to moving bulky chips and settled dust quickly. The collection container holds 16 gallons of dry or wet material, giving useful autonomy before it needs emptying. The wide inlet and high airflow are what let it clear material as fast as a busy line generates it.
How large and heavy is it, and is it mobile?
The DM 3 EL measures 26.5 × 26 × 53 in (670 × 660 × 1340 mm) and weighs 170 lb, mounted on casters so one person can move it between bays and lines. Measured noise is 76 dB(A) per EN ISO 3744, typical for a heavy-duty industrial vacuum. It is compact relative to the full DM3 while keeping the same core performance, which is why it suits shops that need real suction in a movable footprint.
