What your process engineer actually checks

Routine BET, done fast

Four samples in parallel, helium-free, from 0.01 m²/g — the MINI X turns daily BET and mesopore QC into a walk-up routine, with an independent transducer per port so results don't wait on each other.

A materials engineer on the line

About this product

BELSORP MINI X is a compact volumetric gas adsorption analyzer for BET surface area and mesopore distribution — up to four samples measured in parallel, helium-free, from 0.01 m²/g.

What Is the BELSORP MINI X: Compact Multi-Port BET

The BELSORP MINI X measures nitrogen (or argon) adsorption isotherms by the volumetric method with AFSM™2 free-space technology, then derives BET surface area and BJH/NLDFT pore distribution. Each of its up to four ports has an independent pressure transducer, so samples run without waiting on one another. See full specifications below.

Why labs choose the BELSORP MINI X

Daily BET and mesopore analysis, faster and on a smaller bench.

Compact BET workhorse

The smallest, lightest multi-port adsorption analyzer — routine BET and mesopore work on a crowded bench, 280×650×465 mm, 38 kg.

Four ports, per-port transducers

Up to four ports, each with its own 133 kPa pressure transducer, measure independently — one slow sample doesn’t hold up the other three.

Helium-free

AFSM™2 free-space measurement removes the helium calibration step and constant liquid-nitrogen top-ups — faster runs, lower running cost.

Low area without krypton

Measures from 0.01 m²/g in nitrogen, so many low-surface-area samples that usually need krypton run directly on the MINI X.

Common questions

Don't see yours? Email [email protected] — NDA standard, typical reply within 4 hours.

How does the BELSORP MINI X differ from the BELSORP MAX X?
The MINI X is the compact, helium-free workhorse for routine BET surface area and mesopore distribution, measuring down to P/P₀ = 10⁻⁴. The MAX X reaches ultra-low pressure (P/P₀ = 10⁻⁸) for detailed micropore analysis and adds vapor adsorption. Choose the MINI X for daily surface-area and mesopore QC on a small bench; step up to the MAX X when you need micropore resolution or organic-vapor isotherms.
What surface area and pore size range does it cover?
The BELSORP MINI X measures BET surface area from 0.01 m²/g with nitrogen — no krypton required for many low-area samples — and pore size distribution from 0.7 to 500 nm. An optional molecular-probe method extends micropore assessment to 0.35 nm. That covers mesoporous catalysts, battery materials and ceramics in routine QC.
What does helium-free measurement change in practice?
AFSM™2 free-space measurement lets the MINI X determine dead volume without a helium calibration and without constant liquid-nitrogen level top-ups. That removes a consumable and a manual step, shortens each run, and improves repeatability between operators — practical gains when you run BET every day.
How does the four-port design speed up analysis?
Each of the up to four ports on the BELSORP MINI X has its own 133 kPa pressure transducer, so ports measure independently rather than sharing one manifold. A slow microporous sample on one port does not stall the others, which raises throughput for lot comparisons and multi-sample screening. Three ports run in the high-accuracy mode.
Which gases and analysis methods are supported?
Adsorptives include N₂, Ar, CO₂, CH₄, C₂H₆, H₂ and butane isomers. BELMASTER 7 software computes BET and Langmuir surface area, BJH and DH mesopore distribution and NLDFT analysis. An optional FDA 21 CFR Part 11 package supports regulated environments. We help you select the adsorptive and model for your material.
How compact is it and what does it need to run?
The BELSORP MINI X is 280×650×465 mm and about 38 kg excluding the vacuum pump and PC — described by the vendor as the smallest and lightest in its class. It runs on single-phase 100–240 V power and needs a liquid-nitrogen Dewar and the chosen adsorptive gas. Its footprint suits shared or crowded QC benches.
What lead time and support come with the BELSORP MINI X?
The BELSORP MINI X is configured to order, so lead time depends on port count, gases and options such as the molecular probe or 21 CFR Part 11 package — request a current timeline and we confirm it in writing. Every system includes installation, BELCONTROL/BELMASTER 7 training and a validated first BET run on your own material, backed by sub-4-hour application engineering.
