What the FAB 4in1 is

The FAB 4in1 is a desktop multitool machine: one rigid frame and motion system that takes interchangeable toolheads, so the same desk prints in plastic, prints in two materials, mills and extrudes thick pastes. It was originally a Zmorph product and is now produced by the Sygnis Group, the maker of the F-NIS and Sygpast DIW printers. Swapping toolheads takes a few steps and no more than a minute, and the machine recognizes which head is mounted.

The frame is built for milling as well as printing: heavy-duty aluminum plates that keep the electronics away from chips and dust, a reinforced Cartesian XZ head on twin glass-fiber-reinforced belts, and a CNC worktable with a clamping system for stock of different sizes. One program, Voxelizer, prepares print files, CNC toolpaths with STEP operations and tool changes within one G-code, and paste jobs. Typical users are schools, universities, FabLabs, design studios and engineering teams that need to prototype in more than one process without buying several machines.

What each toolhead does

Toolhead What you make with it
Single Extruder Everyday FFF printing in ABS, PLA, PETG and most third-party 1.75 mm filaments; filament sensor and improved part cooling
Dual Extruder Two filaments through one mixing hot end: two colors or two materials in one part, color blending and image mapping
CNC milling PCB/FR4, carbon composite sheet, textolite, PVC, acrylic, PC, Dibond, HIPS, PP, PET, PE, plywood and beech; Sygnis also shows an aluminum part
Thick Paste Dense masses — ceramic, porcelain, silicone — pushed at high pressure through an exchangeable nozzle, in 2D or 3D

Examples from Sygnis’s FAB brochure: an ABS planetary gearbox, bridge prototypes for a student competition at Gdańsk University of Technology, a milled aluminum power button, a carbon drone frame, an in-house FR4 circuit board, a two-material architecture model in gray and translucent PLA, and paste-printed decorations.

Where the FAB stops — and what to take instead

The FAB is a versatile desktop machine, not a dedicated production tool for any one process. The FFF head reaches 250 °C and the bed 100 °C, which covers ABS, PLA, PETG and similar filaments, not high-temperature engineering polymers. The CNC head is a 300 W spindle for wood, plastics, composites, circuit boards and light work in soft metals — not a metal machining center. The Thick Paste head is for experiments, teaching and art with dense masses; it has no pressure regulation, UV curing or heated cartridge. If paste printing is your main work, the Sygnis F-NIS 23151 gives pneumatic pressure control up to 4 bar, UV 365/405 nm curing and a heated 10 ml cartridge, and the Sygpast adds two-component pastes and thermoplastic supports. Ceramic and porcelain prints still need drying and firing in your own kiln. The brochure also shows a 6 W laser toolhead; it is not part of the 4in1 set.

What usually stops people — and the honest answer

“A machine that does four things does none of them well.”Each toolhead has its own specification above, and they are honest: FFF at ±0.2 mm on standard filaments, a 300 W spindle for soft materials, a paste head for dense masses. If one process is your whole job, buy a dedicated machine; if you need all four on one desk, this is the machine.
“Milling will wreck a 3D printer.”The frame was designed for both: aluminum plates shield the electronics from chips and dust, and the XZ head runs on reinforced twin belts. The CNC worktable replaces the print bed when you mill.
“We will need three programs.”Voxelizer covers printing, CNC with STEP operations and toolpath preview, and paste work in one program, with material presets you can edit.
“Printing indoors with students worries us.”The removable HEPA/carbon filter captures fumes and particles from melted filament, and the machine tells you when the filter needs changing. The Thick Paste head is simple and suitable for teaching.

Common questions

Don't see yours? Email [email protected] — NDA standard, typical reply within 4 hours.

What is the Zmorph FAB 4in1?
A desktop multitool machine that takes four interchangeable toolheads: a single FFF extruder, a dual extruder for two materials, a CNC milling head and a Thick Paste head. It was originally a Zmorph product and is now produced by the Sygnis Group.
How much does the FAB 4in1 cost?
$7,350 in USD, delivered in the US (DDP); sales tax where applicable. You can order on this page or ask for a formal quotation for a purchase order.
What is included?
The machine with Single Extruder, Dual Extruder, CNC milling and Thick Paste toolheads, the CNC worktable and the Voxelizer software. Commissioning and operator training are done remotely with the Additive Plus team and Sygnis.
Does the 4in1 set include the laser toolhead?
No. The Sygnis brochure shows a 6 W laser engraving and cutting toolhead, but the 4in1 set covers the Single, Dual, CNC and Thick Paste toolheads.
What is the lead time and warranty?
2–3 weeks after a confirmed order, and a 12-month Sygnis warranty.
What can it print?
1.75 mm filaments such as ABS, PLA and PETG, and third-party filaments that run at up to 250 °C nozzle and 100 °C bed temperature. The dual extruder combines two filaments in one part. The Thick Paste head extrudes dense masses such as ceramic, porcelain and silicone.
What can the CNC head mill?
Sygnis lists PCB/FR4, carbon composite sheet, textolite, PVC, acrylic, PC, Dibond, HIPS, PP, PET, PE, plywood and beech. The spindle is 300 W with an ER-11 collet and a 235 × 250 × 85 mm work area; aluminum appears in Sygnis's examples, but it is not a metal machining center.
How large are the work areas?
235 × 250 × 165 mm for 3D printing and 235 × 250 × 85 mm for CNC milling.
How accurate is it?
For FFF printing Sygnis gives ±0.2 mm dimensional accuracy, 0.05–0.4 mm layer height and a 0.4 mm nozzle.
What software does it use?
Voxelizer, which prepares 3D printing, CNC and paste jobs. It reads .stl, .obj, .step, .dxf, .png and .bmp and runs on Windows 7/10 64-bit or later and macOS 10.13 or later.
How does it compare with the Sygnis F-NIS?
The FAB's Thick Paste head is a simple paste extruder inside a multitool machine. The F-NIS 23151 is a dedicated Direct Ink Writing printer with pneumatic pressure control up to 4 bar, UV curing at 365/405 nm and a heated 10 ml cartridge. Choose the F-NIS when printing your own pastes is the main work.
Is installation on site?
No. Commissioning and operator training are remote, online, with the Additive Plus team and Sygnis.
What are the shipping size and power needs?
One carton of 60 × 60 × 67 cm, 26 kg. The machine runs on 100 V or 240 V, 50/60 Hz, with a maximum draw of 350 W.
