PowderRange® 939W (IN939) is a high-temperature nickel-base superalloy with excellent strength and wear resistance at elevated temperatures. It is a weldable additive-manufacturing variant of cast alloy IN939, used for hot-gas-path gas-turbine components such as vanes, blades and shrouds.
It offers high resistance to high-temperature oxidation and corrosion together with good high-temperature mechanical properties — including creep resistance and thermally-induced low-cycle fatigue — and can be precipitation-hardened by heat treatment.
Why teams buy this powder from Additive Plus
- Genuine Carpenter PowderRange® 939W — gas-atomized for high sphericity, low oxygen and consistent flow.
- Available in small, workable volumes. Most mills sell large minimums and hide pricing behind an account. We stock this alloy and sell it in accessible quantities at a clear, published price.
- Full COA with every lot — particle size distribution, chemistry, apparent density and flow rate, with a traceable lot number.
- Fast dispatch from Los Angeles.
- Need a custom alloy or a tighter cut? We also run our own atomization in-house and can produce custom small-batch powder on request — separate from this stocked product.
Standards & equivalents
- Equivalents / alternate names: IN939 · CM 939 Weldable · Ni-Alloy IN939
- Machine type: F — LPBF · also E — EBM · Particle size: 15–45 µm · Bottle: 10 kg / 22 lbs

- Quality: manufactured by Carpenter Additive under AS9100, AS9120, ISO 9001 & ISO 13485 quality systems. (These certifications are Carpenter’s, covering the powder; Additive Plus resells genuine, fully traceable lots and is not itself a certified manufacturer.)
Chemical composition
Typical chemistry (wt%), per the Carpenter PowderRange® datasheet:
| Element | Content | Element | Content |
|---|---|---|---|
| Nickel (Ni) | Balance | Niobium (Nb) | 0.50–1.5% |
| Chromium (Cr) | 22.00–23.00% | Tantalum (Ta) | 1.00–1.80% |
| Cobalt (Co) | 18.0–20.0% | Manganese (Mn) | ≤ 0.50% |
| Titanium (Ti) | 3.00–4.5% | Silicon (Si) | ≤ 0.50% |
| Aluminum (Al) | 1.00–3.0% | Carbon (C) | ≤ 0.15% |
| Tungsten (W) | 1.00–3.00% | Zirconium (Zr) | ≤ 0.10% |
| Boron (B) | ≤ 0.01% |
Heat treatment & processing
- Precipitation-hardenable — solution treatment followed by aging develops the high-temperature mechanical properties.
- The “W” (weldable) chemistry is tuned for additive manufacturing, reducing cracking compared with the standard cast composition.
- Designed for demanding hot-section turbine hardware.

Unedited feedback from customers who reorder IN939 Nickel Alloy Powder for Metal 3D Printing | LPBF Compatible - 10 kg / 22 lbs.
Same lot 4 times in a row. We stopped re-running parameter sweeps after the second order — density was identical to the first build.
Asked about ferrite content on a Friday. A materials engineer answered Monday morning with actual data, not a sales pitch. That's why we keep ordering.
COA matches the bottle. PSD and flow are exactly what was on the sheet — we run it on a Renishaw 500Q and it hits density on the first try.
