Why does a hardness test need test-point preparation?
A valid Vickers, Brinell or Rockwell indentation requires a clean, flat surface. Forged, cast and heat-treated parts arrive with scale and roughness that would distort the indentation or its measurement. This plant machines a defined test point with a milling unit before testing, so the result reflects the material — not the surface condition. It removes the manual grinding step most plants still do by hand.
How does the integrated milling preparation work?
A milling unit inside the plant machines the test location to an exact, adjustable depth, exposing clean base material for indentation. Because the depth is controlled, every test point is prepared the same way regardless of incoming surface condition — which is what keeps hardness results from scattering.
