Source capture, before dust spreads

The ZEFIRO EV AP 420 is built to capture airborne and suspended dust at the source with 412 CFM of airflow through a 4-inch inlet, so fine particulate is pulled out of the air before it settles across the room. A 22 ft² Class L star filter holds that airflow, and the compact mobile frame lets you position it right at the dust source. It handles non-reactive dust; for combustible dust or reactive metal powder, we route you to a rated ATEX or inert unit.

An applications engineer on the line

Questions on airflow, hood or arm connection, or whether the ZEFIRO suits your dust source? A named applications engineer answers directly — most replies under 4 hours, NDA standard. We run powder handling and post-processing in our own California shop.

About this product

The Delfin ZEFIRO EV AP 420 is a compact mobile dust collector for airborne and suspended dust. Rather than lifting settled material off the floor, it is built to capture dust at the source with high airflow — 412 CFM through a 4-inch inlet — before it spreads through the room. A 22 ft² Class L star filter holds that airflow, and the three-phase, IP55 build on a mobile, small-footprint frame lets you position it right where the dust is generated. It suits non-reactive metal powder dust and general suspended process dust in AM and industrial areas; for combustible dust, use an ATEX-rated unit.

Why teams choose the ZEFIRO EV AP 420

What an EHS or production engineer checks in a source dust collector.

412 CFM airborne-dust capture

High airflow pulls suspended dust and fine particulate out of the air at the source, before it settles across benches and equipment.

4-inch inlet, source extraction

A wide 4-inch inlet connects to a hood or arm to capture dust where it is generated — grinding, powder handling, transfer points.

Compact & mobile

A small-footprint, tall mobile frame moves to the job, so you extract at the source rather than running long duct back to a fixed collector.

22 ft² filter, IP55 three-phase

A Class L star filter resists clogging as dust loads up; IP55 ingress protection suits an industrial environment. 170 lb, 70 dB(A).

Match the collector to your dust

A source dust collector for suspended dust — not a rated unit for combustible dust.

Use it for
Non-reactive suspended dust

Airborne non-reactive metal powder dust, light chips and general fine process dust captured at the source.

Don’t use it for
Combustible or reactive dust

Combustible dust and reactive metal powder need a rated ATEX or inert unit — see the Mistral D2 and inert line, or ask us.

Ask us if
You’re unsure

Send us the dust source and material so an engineer can confirm the ZEFIRO fits, or route you to a rated or larger collector.

Not sure the ZEFIRO EV AP 420 is the right unit?

More airflow, a fixed collector, or a rated unit for combustible dust.

Tell us the dust source, the material and the airflow you need — an applications engineer confirms whether the ZEFIRO EV AP 420 fits, or sizes you to a larger or ATEX-rated collector. Typical reply under 24 hours, NDA standard.

Why source through Additive Plus

  • We run powder-handling and post-processing in our own California shop — we size the collector to the dust source and airflow, not to a catalog line.
  • Genuine Delfin unit with US-based support and consumables (filters, bags) in stock.
  • Honest fit check — if your dust is combustible, we route you to an ATEX-rated unit instead of this one.
  • Ships from US inventory · sub-24h engineer response · NDA standard on every project.

We roll it up to whichever bench is generating dust and capture it before it drifts across the lab. The mobility is the whole point.

412 CFM through the 4-inch inlet actually keeps the air clear at the grinder. Much better than trying to vacuum it up afterward.

Additive Plus sized the inlet and hood for our transfer point and confirmed our dust was non-combustible. Clear guidance.

Common questions

What is the ZEFIRO EV AP 420 designed for?
The ZEFIRO EV AP 420 is a compact mobile dust collector for airborne and suspended dust. Unlike a floor vacuum that lifts settled material, it captures dust at the source with high airflow — 412 CFM through a 4-inch inlet — before it spreads through the room. It suits non-reactive metal powder dust, grinding and finishing dust, and general fine process dust in AM and industrial areas. For combustible dust or reactive metal powder, use a rated ATEX or inert unit instead; send us the material if you are unsure.
How is a dust collector different from an industrial vacuum?
A dust collector like the ZEFIRO EV AP 420 is optimised for high airflow to capture airborne, suspended dust at the source — connected to a hood or extraction arm near where dust is generated. An industrial vacuum is optimised for higher vacuum to lift settled material off surfaces through a hose. The ZEFIRO's 412 CFM and 4-inch inlet are built for the former: pulling fine particulate out of the air so it never settles. Additive Plus can help you decide which approach fits your dust problem.
Is it safe for combustible dust or reactive metal powder?
The ZEFIRO EV AP 420 is a standard collector for non-reactive, non-combustible dust. It should not be used for combustible dust or reactive metal powders such as aluminum and titanium, which require rated ATEX or inert immersion units. Additive Plus carries the Delfin Mistral D2 (ATEX) and inert models for those hazards. If you are unsure whether your dust is combustible, send us the material and particle size and an engineer will confirm the right collector before you buy.
How much airflow does it move, and through what inlet?
The ZEFIRO EV AP 420 moves 412 CFM of airflow through a 4-inch inlet, driven by a 1.2 HP three-phase motor at IP55. That airflow-to-inlet ratio is what makes it a source dust collector rather than a surface vacuum: it is tuned to draw suspended dust through a hood or arm before it disperses. A 22 ft² Class L star filter keeps the airflow steady as dust loads onto it. Measured noise is 70 dB(A) per EN ISO 3744.
Is it mobile, and how big is it?
Yes. The ZEFIRO EV AP 420 is designed as a mobile, small-footprint unit so you can move it to the dust source rather than running long duct back to a fixed central collector. It measures 23 × 25 × 71 in (580 × 630 × 1800 mm) — a tall, narrow frame — and weighs 170 lb on a mobile base. That makes it practical to reposition between workstations, transfer points and machines as your dust source changes.
What power supply does it need?
The ZEFIRO EV AP 420 runs on three-phase power at 230/460 V, 60 Hz, with IP55 ingress protection for an industrial environment. Three-phase supply is standard in most production and AM facilities. If you need more airflow for a larger source or duct run, the ZEFIRO EV AP 560 steps up to 1589 CFM and an 8-inch inlet; an Additive Plus engineer can help you size the collector to your extraction setup.
What filter does it use and what maintenance does it need?
The ZEFIRO EV AP 420 uses a 22 ft² polyester star filter, rated Class L, which resists clogging as dust accumulates and is sized to the unit's airflow. Plan to clean or replace the filter and empty the 11.9-gallon collection container on a schedule set by your dust load. Additive Plus stocks genuine Delfin filters and consumables in the US so you can reorder without downtime, and can recommend a maintenance interval for your application.
