What your safety officer actually checks

What your safety officer actually checks

Compact ATEX capture, with a HEPA option

The Mistral 300 BL D2 brings ATEX D2 combustible-dust capture into a compact, point-of-use footprint, with conductive, grounded construction and an antistatic Class M filter so static cannot build up around ignition-sensitive powder. An optional HEPA filter adds fine-particle capture on the exhaust. It is the small-footprint unit for combustible dust and non-reactive metal powder — for reactive metals like aluminium and titanium, we point you to the inert immersion unit instead.

An applications engineer on the line

Questions on ATEX classification, whether you need the HEPA option, or whether the D2 suits your alloy? A named applications engineer answers directly — most replies under 4 hours, NDA standard. We run powder handling in our own California shop.

About this product

The Delfin Mistral 300 BL D2 is a compact ATEX-certified vacuum for the safe capture of combustible dust and non-reactive metal powder in tight spaces. Built to the D2 dust standard for Zone 22 areas, it uses conductive, grounded construction and an antistatic Class M filter so static cannot build up around ignition-sensitive powder — with an optional HEPA filter for finer capture. A 1.1 kW brushless motor moves 121.8 CFM at 90.6 in through a 2-inch inlet into a 3-gallon container. It is the small-footprint choice for stainless, nickel and other non-reactive AM powders and combustible process dust; for reactive metals like aluminium and titanium, use the inert immersion unit instead.

Why teams choose the Mistral 300 BL D2

What a safety officer checks before a compact vacuum touches combustible powder.

ATEX-certified for combustible dust

Built to the D2 dust standard for Zone 22 areas, so it can be used where combustible dust is present — the compliance basis a safety audit requires.

Antistatic build + optional HEPA

Conductive stainless construction and an antistatic Class M filter bleed off static; an optional HEPA filter adds fine-particle capture on the exhaust.

Compact, 3-gallon footprint

A small-footprint unit for narrow spaces and point-of-use cleanup around printers and machines, where a full-size vacuum won’t fit.

Brushless motor, single-phase

A long-life brushless motor and 2-inch inlet on standard single-phase power — enough draw for point-of-use metal powder and dust capture. 78 dB(A).

Match the vacuum to your powder

ATEX certification is only right if it matches your dust — and your metal.

Use it for
Combustible & non-reactive powder

Combustible process dust and non-reactive metal powder — stainless, nickel and similar alloys — in ATEX Zone 22 areas.

Don’t use it for
Reactive metals

Aluminium, titanium and magnesium react with air and moisture — those need the inert immersion-separation unit, not a dry ATEX vacuum. See below.

Ask us if
You’re unsure

Send us the alloy and particle size and an engineer confirms whether the D2 unit is compliant, or routes you to the inert Mistral instead.

Not sure the Mistral 300 BL D2 is the right unit?

A larger ATEX unit, reactive-metal capture, or high-volume pickup.

Tell us the alloy, particle size and dust classification — an applications engineer confirms whether the D2 unit is compliant for your powder, whether you need the HEPA option, or routes you to the inert Mistral for reactive metals. Typical reply under 24 hours, NDA standard.

Why source through Additive Plus

  • We run powder-handling and post-processing in our own California shop — we match the ATEX rating and filter option to your dust and metal, not to a catalog line.
  • Genuine Delfin unit with US-based support, ATEX documentation on request, and consumables (filters, bags) in stock.
  • Honest fit check — if your metal is reactive, we route you to the inert immersion unit instead of a dry ATEX vacuum.

Small enough to keep right at the printer for stainless powder cleanup, and it's still ATEX-rated. We added the HEPA option for the exhaust.

We needed an ATEX unit that fit in a tight lab bay — the 300 was the only compact option that still had the certification and paperwork.

Additive Plus walked us through the HEPA option and confirmed our powder was non-reactive so the D2 was right. No upsell.

Common questions

Don't see yours? Email [email protected] — NDA standard, typical reply within 4 hours.

What is the Mistral 300 BL D2 designed for?
The Mistral 300 BL D2 is a compact ATEX-certified vacuum for the safe capture of combustible dust and non-reactive metal powder — stainless, nickel and similar alloys — in tight or point-of-use spaces. It is built to the D2 dust standard for Zone 22 areas, with antistatic, grounded construction and an optional HEPA filter. It suits cleanup right at a printer or bench where a full-size unit won't fit. For reactive metals like aluminum or titanium, use the inert immersion Mistral instead.
What does the optional HEPA filter add?
The Mistral 300 BL D2 is offered with an optional HEPA filter, which you select on the product option. The HEPA stage adds fine-particle capture on the exhaust, on top of the antistatic Class M primary filter — useful when you are capturing very fine metal powder or want the cleanest possible exhaust in an occupied space. Without it, the unit still filters to Class M. An Additive Plus engineer can advise whether the HEPA option is worth it for your powder and environment.
What does the ATEX D2 certification mean?
ATEX is the European framework for equipment used in potentially explosive atmospheres, and the D2 designation covers combustible-dust duty in Zone 22 areas, where a combustible dust cloud is unlikely in normal operation but may occur briefly. In practice the Mistral 300 BL D2 is constructed to avoid becoming an ignition source around combustible dust — conductive, grounded parts and an antistatic filter. Additive Plus can supply the ATEX documentation your safety audit needs on request.
Can it be used for reactive metals like aluminum or titanium?
No. The Mistral 300 BL D2 is a dry ATEX vacuum for combustible dust and non-reactive metal powder. Reactive metal powders — aluminum, titanium, magnesium — must be collected with an inert immersion-separation vacuum that captures the powder under liquid. Additive Plus carries the Delfin Mistral 451 inert unit for that. If you are unsure whether your alloy is reactive, contact us with the material and particle size before selecting a unit.
How does it prevent static and ignition?
The Mistral 300 BL D2 uses conductive, grounded construction and an antistatic filter rated to IEC 60335-2-69, Class M. Together these bleed off electrostatic charge so it cannot accumulate on the machine, filter or collected powder — the mechanism that could otherwise ignite a combustible dust cloud. This is why an ATEX-rated unit rather than a standard vacuum is required for combustible dust, and the certification confirms the design meets that standard.
How does the 300 compare with the Mistral 451 BL D2?
Both are ATEX D2 units for combustible dust and non-reactive metal powder. The Mistral 300 BL D2 is the compact option — a 3-gallon container, 2-inch inlet and 121.8 CFM — for point-of-use cleanup in tight spaces, and it offers an optional HEPA filter. The Mistral 451 BL D2 is larger, with a 12-gallon container and 3-inch inlet, for higher throughput. Choose the 300 for footprint and point-of-use work, the 451 for volume; an engineer can help you decide.
Can Additive Plus supply the ATEX documentation?
Yes. Additive Plus can supply the ATEX documentation for the Mistral 300 BL D2 on request, which is what an EHS team or safety auditor needs to justify the unit for a Zone 22 combustible-dust area. We can also help classify your dust, decide whether the HEPA option is warranted, and advise on grounding and handling around the machine. Ask us when you order and we will include the relevant paperwork with the unit.
