Buying metal powder for 3D printing — common questions

How much does metal powder for 3D printing cost?

Prices are published per 10 kg on this page, with the price per kg next to it, and are visible without an account. Carpenter Additive and Amaero powders ship from US stock; CNPC Powder grades cost less for the same alloy.

Where can I buy metal powder for LPBF 3D printing in the US?

Here: add the powder to the cart and check out by card or PayPal, or send a purchase order. In-stock alloys ship in about 2 business days.

What is the minimum order?

One 10 kg container per alloy. 1 kg packs are coming soon. For 100 kg or more, request a volume quote.

How fast do you ship?

In-stock alloys ship in about 2 business days (2–5). For made-to-order powders we confirm the ship date after you order, and for powders that are restocking we show the expected lot date.

What documents come with the powder?

The powder maker's Certificate of Analysis is available on request, covering chemistry and particle size. The country of origin is listed on every product.

Do you offer US or European-origin powder?

Yes. Use the country-of-origin filter: Carpenter Additive and Amaero powders are made in the USA (Carpenter 316L in Sweden). CNPC Powder is made in China.

17-4PH or 17-4 AR — which one do I need?

17-4PH is nitrogen gas-atomized. 17-4 AR is argon-atomized with lower nitrogen for a fully martensitic structure after heat treatment. Check which one your part specification calls for.

Do you accept purchase orders and tax-exempt orders?

Yes. Request a formal quote for your purchasing team and send us your PO. Universities and labs with a tax-exempt certificate pay 0% sales tax once the certificate is on file.
